Can't disable keyboard shortcuts

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 9:12 am

So, I bought a new laptop the other day. The first thing I do is install diablo 2, naturally. Now, this laptop has shortcuts assigned to f1-f12, and anybody whose played d2 knows those keys are pretty important for hot keying spells and whatnot. So, I go to turn off these shortcuts, and lo and behold, no numlock key.

I've been googling since last night, and I can't find any way to remove these shortcuts from the f keys. Anybody think they know a way to get rid of these things? Thanks all.

Posting some info on your laptop model would be helpful

Uhg. There's nothing I hate more than a laptop that assigns function keys to default to some laptop-specific function, making you hold down the function modifier (usually fn) to use the key as is expected I (I need my F5 dangit!)

Sometimes you can get away with just uninstalling the function software and it'll default back to the proper key function, other times there's an option somewhere, and still other times there isn't a single thing you can do about it. As Exo said, your laptop make and model info would be helpful.

The only one I'm explicitly familiar with that does this (and I've found a way to undo it) is Specific Dell laptops. Dell includes an option in the BIOS called "Function Key Behavior" to choose the default behavior. You'll need to go into the BIOS to change it.
