PC: Can Dragons be modded into mountable creatures?

Humor isn't your strong suit, is it?

On the internet, when we can only interpret via text? No. Going by your other posts in this thread, I was almost certain that you were serious. :whistling:

I suppose that explains why I never saw it, but I don't recall it from Morrowind.

Either way, there are three situations where it makes sense to ride dragons:

1. If you're starring in How to Train Your Dragon

2. If the dragon is actually Sean Connery

3. If the dragon is actually not a dragon, but an enormous dog-creature that flies
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Starlover%27s_Log that you missed; easy enough as there are so many books in there.

Does that sound like any of your three situations? I have no idea if the dragon from that book was of the same type as the dragons in Skyrim, or whether its relationship with its rider was as a mercenary or a fellow soldier in the service of the Empire, but an intelligent and powerful warrior might well agree to carry another intelligent but small warrior - either as an equal or as a useful subordinate.

I see no problem with including a ridable dragon in a mod, though I'd be much more impressed if the mod author provided a plausible and satisfying reason as to why it might agree to join forces with the player.

[edit]
There's always the possibility that there is disagreement among the dragons about serving Alduin. Maybe a few of them don't want to see the world destroyed, and have the guts to stand up to a god (aedric or daedric). It wouldn't be so bizarre for one of these to take the matter of prophecy seriously, and decide to make damn sure the dragonborn doesn't fail in his/her fated task. And if that means getting the dragonborn where they need to be fast, then so be it.

If it didn't bother you, you wouldn't have posted about it in a condescending way.

And let's not be coy, or wordplay here. That's exactly what it is.

Eloquent writing does not hide avid subjectivity; nor does it disguise flamebait as *just my opinion in a free society*.

Sorry, let me be very clear:

I don't care if you choose to add mods to your game that create Brazilian-carnival-inspired headdresses for your character to wear. Go for it.

That doesn't mean that I like that people design things like that. And I absolutely have an attitude of condescension towards the very idea.

See how the two are mutually exclusive? But thank you for thinking that I'm coy.

Edited for above posts: If anyone makes a reference to Dragonheart in anything, ever, then you may assume that they're joking.

Ah yes, I forgot the new definition of troll was "Someone who disagrees with me."

I don't care much what other people want to do with their game, but I'm genuinely curious as to why they bought Skyrim if they just wanted to change it into something totally different.

And it's not at all hypocritical to have my own subjective views on mods. In my eyes, I'm absolutely the only person to decide what mods are good and bad, because I'm the only one who can decide that for myself. I'm also welcome, as you seem to have discovered, to explain why I think that some mods would be better suited to a children's movie than a game. You don't have to agree with me. That's the joy of open discourse in a free society.

Phoenix: If you can find the post where I said that all mods are bad, I'd love for you to show it to me.

Well you see, these posts seem to show that you do infact have a problem with people modding their game in a way you see unfit.

Unfortunately, I'm sure that it will be possible.

I know no one will make me download the mod. I just don't like seeing art get defaced.

It's like finding out that Shakespeare's been converted into "text speak" so teenagers don't have to actually learn English. I don't have to read it, but I don't have to approve of actions that destroy the original art.

Now, I accept what you said about you being the only person to decide which mods are good or bad in relation to yourself and your gaming experience, what i take issue with is the fact that, at first, you seemed to be opposed to other people modding their game in way that you would not want to mod your own - a view you are seemingly now taking a much more passive approach to.

It would seem, from your posts at least, that your original standpoint was:

'Putting something that I personally don't like into other peoples games is bad and I disagree with the philosophy behind it'

But is now:

'I don't care what other people do with their game, I just don't understand it'

As for:

"I'm genuinely curious as to why they bought Skyrim if they just wanted to change it into something totally different."

That statement would seem you don't understand modding at all, why do you think Bethesda distributes modding tools and actively encourages the community to mod if not to change the game into something totally different? Modding Isn't about solely adding things in that fit into the lore or implementing fixes, if it was, modding wouldnt exist at all, it would all be taken care of by bethesda in the way of patches and DLC. For someone who was bemoaning the destruction of art, you seemed to very opposed to creating it.

As Zero_Pheonix very eloquently put it:

If you think that mods are just defacing art... You sir have no clue what artistry is, nor what it's spirit entails, apparently.

Very long post.

I'm going to keep this short and to the point.

I don't have a problem with high-schoolers reading Shakespeare in "text speak". I have a huge problem with people publishing it in the first place.

I don't have a problem (nor have I ever said I did) with people choosing to play awful mods. I do have a problem with people making awful mods in the first place.

Closed for review - as if there is not enough to do.

I started to tidy this thread and delete posts but I gave up and am leaving it closed. Reading through should make it fairly obvious why I made that decision.
