Can PC Fallout: New Vegas be played with a 360 controller?

Just wondering because I was thinking of returning my 360 copy of the game and just grabbing the PC version.. the mods just make the game literally a hundred times better than it is on the consoles.

Why would you ever want to play a shooter with a controller when a keyboard and mouse is available?

Wireless works as well, you get a wireless receiver and a usb charge lead as well.
So just a wired one isn't the only option.
What I use.

Because I like to hook my gaming laptop up to my HDTV and lie back on the couch and relax while playing games, not sit hunched up in a computer chair staring at the tiny normal screen. Oh and FYI New Vegas is a RPG with shooter elements not a shooter with RPG elements.

And to the rest of you thanks for the answer, that's awesome news.

Some just find it awkward. There are some games I can't play with the basic K/M set-up so then I bring in my controller

Because nothing beats wiping the floor with someone who thinks they are leet and then telling them you did it using an Xbox controller.

Seriously though, mouse has superior anologue right?
So does an anologue stick over keyboard for movement, use combined Mouse and controller for best of both worlds.
Unfortunately Fallout NV and 3 have been screwed over by GFWL setup and you cant use both at same time, my only gripe about Fallout really.
