Hello,

I completed the first 2 missions of "Totem's of Hircine" and I was on my way to Haemar's Shame with Aela in tow to finish the 3rd. For some stupid reason i decided to climb some rough terrain en route to Haemar's Shame. I looked back after climbing some mountains and Aela was not with me. So i continued to Haemar's Shame anyway thinking i will just wait there for her to show up. I waited in front of the dungeon for a few days and she never showed up. So i proceeded to clear the dungeon and obtain the last totem. The next step in the mission is to talk to Aela - however, she is nowhere to be found! I checked Jorrvaskr, I checked the mountains where i lost her, i waited for days at Jorrvaskr, I waited for days at Haemar's shame. I waited at my home in Whiterun. Nothing. And now when i try to get a new follower they tell me that i already have one. How can i get her back so i can finish the Hircine quests and cure my werewolf-ism? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Since you are playing on a console, the only way to get her back would be to load a previous save. More than likely, she isn't dead, or you should be able to recruit a new follower. My guess is that she got stuck somewhere, trying to get to your location.

I agree - she isn't dead. I would love to load an old save but unfortunately i only kept like 5 or 6 save files and they are all after i lost her. I hope the next patch fixes this - i doubt i will play anymore Skyrim unless this is fixed. Additionally, I will most likely not buy another Bethesda product until they start publishing FINISHED games. As much as i love the series, these sorts of bugs are deal breakers for me. I can't take on any followers and i cant complete a very important questline - how annoying is that? I'm going back to ME3. So pissed.
