Can't get past the chopping block?

Post » Sat Jan 26, 2013 3:11 am

I'm trying to start a new game, but every time my character...

[Minor spoilers ahead]

reaches the chopping block when Alduin is supposed to arrive, he just flies around and the story doesn't progress.
Any way of fixing this? I'm playing on the 360 and I'm trying to make a High elf female if that matters.

That is weird. Did you try just starting a new game?

Not from the very start. I have a save just before I start making my character which I always go to.
Should I try from the very very start?

Yes, a new restart (from the very start) should solve it

I've had this happen before, when I had a character saved just before creation. It seems you might muck something up if you load a save game saved during the intro. At least that has been my experience.

Still surprised this bug is still here lol. The only way to continue is to restart the game.

And, hopefully from this experience you take something else away.

Do not run this game on one save slot. Have lots of them, like 10. Cycle through them as you go. Quests will sometimes glitch for strange reasons, reloading a save from before you started the quest will resolve these glitches 99.999999999% of the time. I have never had a quest bug out on me that I could not fix by reloading an earlier save. A save from the middle of the quest won't fix this. So:

1. Always have a save from before you start a quest (accepting is OK, just don't' start it until you have saved in a slot first).

2. Turn off the Autosave features, they can corrupt over time

3. Use lots of slots

4. Make lots of saves.

5. When in doubt, make a new slot, you can always delete them later.

Well, at least you didn't get far enough to lose much progress. Unless you made an incredibly handsome/beautiful character. That would svck.
