Lucky Shades.

If your playing fallout 3, the only lucky item in FNV is the naughty nightware.

I read somewhere one of the NPCs has a lucky hat. I can't quite recall, so maybe I'll look through the strategy guide to see if it is listed there.

Never mind. Vance's Lucky Hat ( http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vance%27s_lucky_hat ) has a 0 DT and +1 Perception, but no Luck modifier.

I don't think Luck really factors into gambling ( I know it supposed to ) but I've won ( banned from Casinos ) everything in the same amount of time with 3 different Luck level characters.
I suppose a low luck PC would have a longer time and more reloads...but even a 5 Luck PC will bankrupt a Casino quick enough.
And that's the whole idea ? Right ? Gamble to make money...not for gambling sakes. To buy our fancy implants and our shiny new toys, not sit and stare at the same slot machine for hours on end.
Though I do admit Blackjack is fun.

And please don't tell me you don't reload if your lose all your money. Nobody is that die hard.

I think with high Luck all that really happens is you see the " You feel Lucky " caption more often....and maybe break even more often....allowing you to play for longer periods of time.

But jackpot and reload simply make gaming a quick, but fun way of earning caps.

If there were more games or even different slot machines I might be inclined to linger longer....but the whole idea is just get the money and run....and buy shiny things.

I do like the old school casino vibe in New Vegas though...

And New Vegas did pay for all those wonderful implants ....I'm not going to complain. And I did have fun winning it ( Mostly Blackjack)

I wouldn't mind being allowed to gamble some more....but I understand the game makers intention. Otherwise it would be a caps ATM and break the game.

I guess it depends on how you role play it. My second character (just started third) was the goodie goodie type so i did quite alot of stuff that made no real diffrence in the game but was more to how i wanted to role play it. I spent considerable time just reverse pick pocketing the good people in the game like Sunny, Trudy, Nash (Primm), Usangus (spelling) giving them several thousand in caps. They did seem to spend them i think it was just the respawn deal, but I RPed it as i was helping the communities rebuild and strengthen for the comming conflagration. So in this rare occurence my character was one that never really cared about the caps and considered them a building tool for my allies. What did and still does bother me is that i get negative karma for putting 5g in caps in Trudy's pocket when i should be getting positive karma for my deeds. Everybody needs a bit of dirt on them, no one trusts you otherwise.

With a luck of 6 i was able to break the banks in all of the casinos pretty quick, and i while i find the ban a bit much in the game i can assure you that if you draw a king and an eight, double down pull a 3, do that too many times and ANY casino will ban you (with high luck 6 to 7 i just double down every time and i win 3 times to every loss). So while annoying not really a game breaker especially considering that i have pack mules (companions) money is rarely ever a problem. On the rare occasion where i find myself short on caps i spend an hour running a route from Goodsprings to the Strip using the animated prostitution mod (pay the robot and you get to mount the girl) to earn close to 1500 caps, it still is more cost efficient to clear a vault by about 1000 caps in the same hour, there is just less risk of death selling that ass.

The odds are against the house in blackjack, A 'push' with equal hands usually goes to the dealer but in NV it 'breaks even'. I like playing slots with a ten luck. It's something to do before I sleep. Blackjack with ten luck is much the same as long as you don't do something -crazy- you can pretty much double down on most hands and expect a win. I wouldn't mind playing the games for free. Make a deal with the floor boss that all the money goes to the house and you just want to play. Maybe open up some bennies after you earn the house (not Mr. House) enough money like presidential suites or radio spots with Mr. New Vegas ;)
