I can't make a good looking Argonian :(

I want to play an Argonian Shadowscale so bad, but I'm never pleased with my argonians appearance... it really bothers me.

How could anyone make an Argonian that would look good to anyone other than another Argonian?

Well I particularly like the beast races. But I'm more of a Khajiit person myself, and while I think argonians are awesome, I have never been able to play one because I've always hated how mine turn out. But I'm sufficiently satisfied with this one I just made.

i find it hard to make a bad looking argonian (it is too alien to say it looks good or bad, it is like attempting to say a komodo dragon looks good/bad when they all look kinda cool to me), i suggest attempting to make a naga (narrowed snout, like thecandlethief said)

Play with the brow -- that's key, as it affects roughly how the facial expression will look. It's very easy to accidently end up with an Argonian that looks permanently angry or confused.

Also, make sure that you manipulate the settings for cheek heigt and various eye settings; some eye sockets for Argonians cause this weird issue where their eyes "pop" out of their sockets and expose the black nothingness beneath. The chargen face should blink and shift weight, so you should see it if it happens.

Argonian males have a low default weight; unfortunately, Argonian men seem to only be able to be ripped or skinny.

When you select the complexion, the smooth looking one is considered to be "old," so keep that in mind.

The skin tone you pick might look very different in somewhere other than Helgen because of the daylight.

And don't forget to look at the presets and other Argonian NPCs. Find one you like and try to copy that, for starters.

Really? I was able to make my Argonian look pretty damn badass in full Dragonplate Armor.

And I gave Derkeethus Dragonscale Armor.

Now we both look like badass Dragonborns from Dungeons and Dragons.

Edit: Heres a couple more with our helmets on.

I've seen plenty of Argonian NPC's that look great, that's what encouraged me to make one, but it took me forever to come up with one I liked. Mess with the snout and cheekbones, they can easily throw the entire look off.

I find that the biggest influential changes to my argonian came from playing with the eyeliner/shadow/tint and forehead color.

THIS!

It helped alot,my first few Argonians had no eyesocket, lip, eyebrow, forehead,or any facial color,it was just neutral. I kept wondering why my Argonian didnt look right, then I gave him a dark red tint to match his bronze skin color, and it helped him look so much better.

I love her tribal-ish look. She wears the Volsung mask normally but I thought i'd show how the colors can really seal the deal - at least for me.

Argonian is ugly, this much is true, but at least they know this. For an Argonian to be ugly and not know it, is surely a fool!

I think they look awesome, if you try to make them look human you're doing it wrong! Think raptor meets snake and you're almost there.

Depends of what kind of features you think will make your character look good.
For example, I tried some "friendly-looking", average, lizardlike features on http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u476/arconacor/TESV2012-02-1621-21-03-68.jpg and she looked cute. Now if it's not "cute" you're looking for, get some brows and hair hornstyles and he/she'll look pretty http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111112090721/elderscrolls/images/f/f8/The-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim-argonian-530x278.jpg.
