Can't make lip files anymore!?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:17 am

So, uhhh, now when I record dialogue it does the whole 'There is no LipGenerationCad.fxd(Or whatever) file so no lip will be made' and when I click 'Generate Lip' it doesnt make one. Just like with Fallout. Did they freaking remove the lip generation? I had it working on day one, and now I try and it's once again broken!

Please tell me it's just me. Please please please please please! My mod will have well over 3000 lines of dialogue, and making lip files for all of those the old way will be hell!

Please, by the Nine, tell me it's just me!

Uh, it better not be broken again. I'm already having enough trouble setting up arena fight wager quests. :swear:

Can you try real fast? Just record a line and when you hit Save it will either give you the error or not. :F

Though I don't know why they would remove it. My only thought is if they accidently included it in the first place, but in the tutorial it tells you to make the lip file; so it had to be on purpose...

Maybe it broke with an update and they need to update it to match?

Oh thank the divines! Okay, just a problem on my end. Not sure what it could be though... I think I need to verify my steam cache or something.

Hey Alex.. Counld you let me know what the problem is if you figure it out? Just in case I end up w/ this problem at some point. Working on a MOD to be released VERY soon. with at least 70 Lines of Dialogue, so it'd be nice to know.

Okay well I have it fixed in a way. I verified the CK Tool cache and it found 5 missing files. It downloaded them all, and I see it (The lip Fonix.cdf) now in my Data directory. So, I assume I could make lip files.

Unfortunately steam did that stupid thing where the download breaks. I'm now at 100% downloaded, but it's suspended and no matter what it wont complete. I've restarted Steam, I've opened and closed games... This happens every once in a while, and it's annoy as hell. As now I cannot use the CK as it says 'It's already open in another instance.' Well cool Steam, no it isn't.

Maybe try restarting your computer?
I wish there was more flexability when recording dialogue. I would really like to be able to run the sound through some digital filters and compressors that I have, because on its own the audio sounds terrible. I guess the only solution would be to get actual hardware to process the sound ,but I'm not about to go drop a few thousand dollars just to record better sounding dialogue. Anyone else figured out a way to import wav files into a mod and have a lip file created as well?

Oh yeah that's simple. You can record your own dialogue any way you want. As long as the file ends up in the right directory with the right name (And the right settings), the game doesn't care how it got there. Then you just go through all your dialogue and say 'Generate lip file from wave' and you have your nice processed audio, and lip files to match.

Reinstalling the CK fixed the stupid download error. Lip files now work. I guess I delete it at some point. >.>

Silly me. :P
