After purchasing the Amulet of Mara I talked to Lydia(the companion you get when named Thane of Whiterun) but she had no reaction to the amulet. Apparently she is marryable and its worked on others.

Same here! I hope a mod see's this so they can get to fixing it in the next patch. Pretty big problem if you ask me! ^.^
