Can't marry Muiri until completing Brotherhood quests?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:21 am

I'm planning on marrying Muiri, and wanted some clarification on what the UESP says. Does this mean it's only safe to marry her after the entire quest-line is finished?

From UESP: "Completing Muiri's quest will trigger new dialogue in which she hesitantly thanks you for solving her "problem". However, the dialogue does not disappear if you marry her. If you're still on the quest line for the Dark Brotherhood, this will make you unable to complete the quests Astrid gives you."

What I gather from that excerpt is that you need to have Muiri's quest in the completed section of your quest log before marrying her.

Wow, I'd never read that. :o All I knew was: you have to kill both of her targets to marry her and if you complete her contract (both targest)...wait for it...Blood on the Ice can get screwed up.

I know she does not offer normal spouse dialgoue after you marry her and greets you with the "...solving my little...problem." line.

You should probably wait until...later...to marry her - she's pretty safe because dragons rarely attack Markarth.

I hadn't even considered she might die in the interim... food for thought.

The only threats that face her would be:
1) Dragons. I've never had one attack Markarth and others have. I've never had one attack Riften either so it's random.
2) The No One Escapes Cidhna Mine quest depending on which path you choose. On one character on which I chose the dangerous path, I was fortunate enough to exit at nighttime so most NPCs weren't on the streets. :P

I guess in the meantime you could reverse pickpocket a Legendary weapon to her so her odds of surviving a fight would increase.

You married her didn't you? I thought I saw that display case with the dagger, your wedding band and her bonus ring. That would be in Hjerim wouldn't it? That's pretty messed up dude...

 ...and the Amulet of Mara which lured her.

I married her on my assassin chick (Sylgja on my warrior dude). I'm pretty sure it was after the DB questline though. I even killed both of her targets and it did not mess up Blood on the Ice - serendipity. :o

That display case is in Markarth...I didn't want to uproot the poor girl. Plus, I thought I had read that she keeps her job at The Hag's Cure...she doesn't. She does run her own business though. :P

Oh. I thought it was in Windhelm. I thought it'd be a pretty big F-you to the Shatter-Shields to move into the same house that one of their daughters owned before she was murdered and after you've killed the other and driven the mother to suicide.

I like that actually, but I've heard that the house is bugged (read haunted) so I kinda' avoid it. I own it on my dude's character, but don't really store stuff in it. I haven't gotten far enough in the story on my chick to buy it yet.

The surviving father/husband seems to have suffered enough, but I have no remorse for killing the other daughter. I actually spoke to her before I decided her fate - she spoke ill of Muiri so adieu ma petite fleur. As for the mother: had she raised better daughters perhaps one would still be alive to constantly remind of her the one she lost. }:[ I'm not very nice.

My assassination of the daughter was a total mess. I probably tried five separate times to do it as stealthily as possible. What worked? Used a dagger, she woke up, I chased her down the stairs stabbing wildly--for some reason that's what worked. Killing her while she slept got me a $1,000 bounty every damn time.

I'm pretty sure I pulled that one off without getting caught because IIRC I pulled off all of my assassinations except the

one. My Sneak was 100 and I had all the perks before I joined DB or TG though. :P

It's been a while since I did it, but I think I followed her down an alley at night. :ninja:
