I have a decent rig Running an AMD 960T @ 4.2Ghz and Evga gtx 670ftw 4gb card and 8 gb of memory and a evga 1500watt PSU. I just bought the game last night on steam and the lag is terrible so much i can't play at all . I have tried 10-15 diff setting in game and in my control panel . What is going on with this game have the Devs just gave up on it or what? Does anyone have and magical settings that work or does any of the settings work for this game. I see so many having trouble with this game if i had known i wouldnt have bought it. I been trying to get ahold of steam all day to try to get a refund but i doubt thats gonna happen, they got there money and thats all they care about. So if anyone could help me out with some settings or something id appreciate it very much, thank you!!!

With an AMD CPU some have reported that +set jobs_NumThreads 0 in the Steam startup options has worked well for them.

Well i added all the high texture cfg. files and fixes i could find on the net and i still cannot play for more then 10 mins at a time. It plays fine for 10-15 mins then it starts lagging and my fps drops from 60+ to 8fps and stays there till i turn the game off and once i restart it through steam it plays fine againe for another 10-15 mins. Can anyone give me any insight into this. This is the oly game that does this, i have tried everything from diff settings in the Nvidia Control Panel and the video menue in-game and nothing helps . THe only thing that helps is restarting the game. Like i said i found all the cfg. files on diff forums and added them to my game and i cant tell a diff at all.

I also bought Rage during the Halloween sale thinking it's been a year since its release and all the bugs would have been fixed. But I am facing similar problems as klewlis1. The game starts okay, I can play for 5-10 minutes and then the game simply freezes. I have to restart the pc and play again. I've also tried cfg files and other fixes like the cache folders, numthreads 0, etc but to no avail.

My PC specs are:

AMD Phenom II 550,
Nvidia GTX 550 Ti (Latest drivers installed),
4GB DDR5 RAM.
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)

Please can anyone help me with this. The game looks really good and I just wish I could play for longer periods.

What remains aren't really bugs, just finding the right drivers for yourself. Unfortunately Rage will want you to have a specific driver... and I guess hardware, lol.

The game is as fixed as it will ever get. Ever.

I fixed it!

All right I confess, it wasn't broken in the first place.

Since Vynzent was so confident about the game being as fixed as ever, I turned to my hardware.

Checked if my graphics card (Nvidia GTX 550 Ti) wasn't fried. Turned out to be running smoothly.

Then checked the RAM modules and found out that somehow one of the modules had come loose.
I used each module individually and tried the game and RAGE runs smoothly even on 2GB RAM.

Since the past two days, I've been playing the game with both RAM modules (2+2 GB) installed and am loving it.

Thanks Vynzent for making me to think differently.

PS:- There is a little texture popping, but I can do with it.
