Can we please accept SKYRIM for what it is?

Post » Fri Dec 21, 2012 3:49 pm

Let me start of by saying that I don't want to come across as rude or anything remotely but its just that I've seen too many of these threads regarding, "Oh I wish Oblivion was like Skyrim" or "Wish Beth made a Morrowind remake" and such.

Lets be honest that ain't ever going to happen for reasons already said in those posts and then some which I sure Beth have a good reason for.

So so lets start by saying that I've not played any of the earlier Elder Scrolls game so when I first did geta sneak peak at the game I was completely blown away. And since then my love for the series and its lore has really grown and Skyrim has found a place in my heart like no other game has and regardless of how the Nords are perceived in the game; I simply love everything about them.

However, I am pretty sure Morrowind and Oblivion were as good games or maybe even better to some, but they had their time in the sun. They had their glory days and with people that continue to play those games today, is testament to that fact.

However, all those asking for a remake should note that these same games will lose their charm and their uniqueness if it was to be rehashed (for lack of a better word).

And so is Skyrim unique in its own way. And we shouldn't try and wish any different but accept Skyrim for what the game is and enjoy it cause it truly is a master piece. Like any other game it has its flaws but the good far out ways the bad in the game.

I agree. Skyrim is a truly amazing and epic piece of work. I have my issues with it, but that does not change its vast scope and technical brilliance.

300 locations. Hundreds of NPC's. Uncountable quests. And graphics that look real. Think about it.

I agree, but this is all opinion. However, there IS a difference between constructive criticism and "This game svcks Beth just wants to make an action game not an RPG Morrowind 4eva".

Constructive is "The perk system is poorly implemented. This sentence is my reasoning. This is my evidence, if I have any. Here is my explanation of the problem. This sentence is my solution. My solution is to remove the X/5 effectiveness perks and have skills scale with your skill level".

Useless criticism/whining is "This game is horrible. It just svcks. It's dumbed down and stupid. The leveling system and skills svck. Morrowind was better."

To be unfair, Skyrim has the problem of beeing compared to both Morrowind and Oblivion.
People including me get annoyed then parts of it don't live up to all the good part of the previous games.

I want Oblivion style spellmaking and magic in Skyrim, add the spells cut after Morrowind and keep the visual effects from Skyrim.
Morrowind style segmented equipment while looking as good as Skyrim or at least Oblivion.

Don't want fast travel, want mark and recall with unlimited marks.

No level scaling and no very easy areas :) This one is my favorite.

Oh I might compare them or prefer some parts of one game to another, but I LOVE them all, including Skyrim. I will likely love every TES game so long as the stories remain intact.
