Can we please get a fix for broken perks and effects already

Post » Tue Feb 26, 2013 11:48 am

Come on now Bethesda, it's been over a year and still there are multiple perks and spell effects that don't work correctly. Fortify one handed is still broken for daggers, ward absorb still doesn't work, spell absorption is still bugged, and I'm sure there's a few others. These are very simple bugs that affect everybody, it's not as if they're some one off issue that only occurs under specific circumstances. It's ridiculous that modders were able to fix these bugs within a month after release yet Bethesda has still refused to fix these bugs.

How about instead of releasing DLC that introduces even more bugs, we get some fixes to the issues that have plagued us since release? Or at least give console players the unofficial patches, because clearly modders can bug fix better than Bethesda.

There will always be bugs, lots of them, too many to count and surely too many to fix. This is where modders come in in Bethesda games. Remember, bug fixing doesnt give them direct revenue, while DLCs do. And i definitely wouldnt say that modders are better at bug fixing than Bethesda. They just have the time and motivation to do it, while Bethesda does not.

I do agree though that consoles should in some way have access to patches. I think the only real problem is getting the idea through Sony and Microsoft. It'd be free, and big corporations typically dont like free.

I'd rather them spend time on things I notice (like more content) than these little bugs that have no real affect on my game.

I picked the Atronach perk for my mage before knowing about the bug. Now 1/3 of my summons fail to cast, and I'm stuck with the perk. It's definitely having an effect on my game when I have to constantly recast spells because Bethesda doesn't want to spend 2 seconds fixing a bug that's been known about for over a year.

They are working on another patch. So hopefully it has more actual bug fixes on it.

Dagger shouldn't really get the Armsman perks. They can get OP fast enough with Sneak. Come one, dealing 30x damage?

Bullspit...

Bug fixing does give them revinue... it gives them excellent word-of-mouth praise which gives increased sales.

That's the one thing holding me back from ever reccomending this to my friends, because of the horrible horrible bugs.

What really baffles me is when did it become OK for the PC player community to become unpaid bug-fixers?

It's 15x... you can only hit 30x via equipping the Dark Brotherhood gauntlets.

By all means go for it!

In 2002, when Morrowind was released.

But I think the vast majority of those people use the gauntlets.

If they haven't been fixed by now, they will never be fixed.

Broken perks have no effect on your game? When perks are the only RPG element left in player creation? I would think a guy with a TES:III inspired name would feel differently than that.

Small bugs or no, I'd like to see them fixed as well. 'Small' doesn't mean 'ignore' and frankly, in reality you know that the more you think like that, the more these 'small bugs' will remain and build up until you realize the game is full of unfixed, carelessly ignored bugs. But I seriously doubt they'll be ignored or unfixed, but then again you never know.

I'd rather them spend time on things I notice (like more content) than these little bugs that have no real affect on my game.

In Dragonborn I met somebody in the Skaal village who asked me to rescue a Skaal Blacksmith who got captured and was taken away. 5 yards from me I heard "Somebody! Help me!" and I looked over by the forge - and there was the Blacksmith standing exactly where he was before, waiting to be rescued from absolutely nobody.

When fighting Alduin the first time I was spitting and swearing trying to find out why not a single attack I was doing was doing any damage to him. A half-hour later I check online to find it's a bug, with the solution being having to quit out of the game entirely and boot it up from scratch if I die anytime during that fight. W...T...F...

When I saw a nice item somebody had equipped and wanted to steal it, but the chances to steal it was at 42%, I flipped on my pickpocketing gear, and poped a pickpocketing potion - to then see my chances to pickpocket said item go from 42% chance to steal to 19%.

Those are just three of the MINOR ones... lets not forget things like Raldbthar where if you clear it once, the entire dungeon bugs out and the bridge can't be accessed ever again...

How the HELL can you say they have no real effect on your gameplay experience? Seriously... HOW!?

Look - there's a difference between being a white-knight defending what you like, and being willfully blind by allowing your game experience to be slowly and perpetually marred by your defense of it! Especially when bug-fixes do NOT take up the same time to develop an entire expansion.

I dont recall that many bugs in my vanilla game... perhaps because I never played mage classes.
Now I play with all the unofficial patches and mods, so, I notice the bugs less than ever.
