Can I please get some firm details...

... regarding Dishonored's RPG side? Specifically I'm asking about how things like character progression are handled (XP? skill points?), whether players will be able to max out a character or be limited based on their build choices, whether there is an inventory or anything like that for managing weapons (or even limited slots), and how weapon upgrades, ammo types etc. factor in.

Dishonored is primarily being marketed as an action game, but of course the similarities to Deus Ex are hard to ignore. I'm just wondering exactly what the game offers mechanically on the RPG side of things. Is it basically anologus to BioShock, i.e. RPG-lite, or is it closer to Deus Ex or System Shock 2?

Is there any sort of video or screenshot resource that specifically discusses or highlights Dishonored's RPG mechanics?

I've tried searching the Internet quite a bit, but finding concrete information on this aspect of the game has been fairly difficult.

Thanks in advance.

RPG-lite. Think Bioshock.

There is no skill points or experience in the game. You unlock skills and upgrade them and your weapons with runes that can be found troughout the game or can be bought. The more upgrades or the more powerful the skills the more runes it requires. You cannot have every skill in the game in one playthrough.

So in terms of RPG it's not like System Shock or Deus Ex but it is in gameplay. It's an Action Stealth game and it lives up to that name with RPG elements.

Okay, so it uses a currency system... not formally labeled XP but still seems mechanically similar, if I'm interpreting this correctly?

Thanks for the detailed response.

Yes, it is mainly an action game I think with just some RPG elements.

They will not hand over runes like marking it on the map..it svcks since now you actually have to explore everything.

You make that sound like exploration in this kind of game is a bad thing. And I highly doubt you will be forced to explore every nook and cranny to complete the game.

You are not forced to of course but like Thief and Deus Ex it is the ultimate strategy. It rewards those players as it should be the norm.

I dunno. I think it's fair to give greater rewards to players who are more invested in finding them. Your reward for completing objectives is progress in the story. Your reward for being thorough and showing greater dedication to the game is more options to help you on those objectives.
