Hello, I'm on the 3rd floor of the Repconn Test Facility, and there's an area that I have
been unable to reach.

The area is beyond a door that is at the end of a corridor (see 1st picture).
The door is broken and can't be opened, however you can see that it is
an employee working area behind that door. There's even a filing cabinet
(see 2nd picture) pushing against the door that I've been able to search
without being in the room.

Is there a way to reach that area ?

You have to find a different route. Not sure exactly, but if it is like the blockage in vault 22, a long and annoying one.

I searched for awhile. I believe Obsidian is trying to create a sense of depth by making certain areas viewable but inaccessible.

You can access that area. I did. There is way to get there which you can find later as you explore facility. I don't remember exactly how I got there anymore however, its been some time.

Does anyone know the route to there ?

I remember to get there quit late, after been on highest floor and nearly ending quest so it might be, you can access that part via higher floor. But don't take me for granted.

When you enter the Repconn test Facility, btw did you get quest from the guy (main quest) in the Motel IN NOVAC. He asks you to clean the Repcon Test Facility of Ghouls, A voice will ask via the intercom (if you enter via the main entrance) to come to the the third floor. Go all the way to right upper connner of the building untill you reach the rocket assembly hall. Via a metal stairs go up to the third floor. You will them com to the metal tube hallway. When you follow those yuo will come to a door that you cannont open. On your right is an intercom. Click the intercom and the voice will ask you to come in and talk a ghoul

Yep, to continue spoiling, once you get into the research area, there is a back door to the research area that lets you back into the test site on the other side of that blockage.

Ah ! Now that seems to make sense !
