Can't remove quest items from inventory EVER.

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:19 am

Whenever you pick up a quest item, it is stuck in your inventory from then on. You can't store til you need it, or discard it if you have no interest in the quest. The worst part is, if you complete the quest and you still have the item, you are stuck with it FOREVER. Alot of the quest items don't weigh anything, so all they do is clutter up your inventory unnecesarily (which, while annoying isn't a huge deal) but some of them do have weight, and that IS a huge problem, since there is only so much your character can carry. It seems like a simple enough fix for the next patch, so please, I'm tired of carrying around all of this (now) useless stuff. Please consider fixing this.

I am not able to drop quest items for completed quest either.

Quite annoying...I agree with you whole heartily.

This needs to be fixed!!

You were never able to in the first place. That's how it was in Fallout 3.

Not a glitch.

i wrote a massive letter to bethesda about the huge amount of bugs and issues with game and i included a bit about not being able to drop finished quest items. it was pretty lengthy.

they probably won't take any notice of it, but who knows. i know i can't be the only one who's complained about it.

Oh yeah I HATE this. If a quest is finishe/failed all items should be removeable, is it really that difficult? I'am still wondering around with a jar of chlorine, I have no idea what its for!

People used to whine "I didn't know it was a quest item and I dropped / sold it and now I can'y find it!"

Quest item should be set to zero weight, and most of them are. They probably also should vanish with a message when a quest is completed or failed.

DEAD ON. Motor Runner's Helmet was one of the things that inspired my original post. (Plus I would really like to put one of those toy rockets on a shelf in my room.)

Clear out your entire inventory (except for quest items, obviously) and see what happens. Should drop to 0 weight. Some quest items are listed as having weight, when in fact they do not count toward your weight total. I can't say that this is the case for all quest items, but it was for my snow globes and the NCR parts I got stuck in my inventory. So the worst of it is that they clog up your inventory list, but they won't limit how much you can carry.

Simple fix, When you try to sell/drop a quest item a little message pops up. "This is a quest item, are you sure you want to continue?" Then you can choose if you want to keep it or not, and no one has anyhing to "whine" about.

I do not get the message,"This is a quest item, are you sure you want to continue?"
My message tells me I cannot drop a quest item.

He did not say that message is in the game, he started his post with "simple fix" basically suggesting how it could be fixed :P
