*SPOILERS AHEAD*



So now when I have completed the quest on the Dawnguard side, there seems to be no way for me to return to Soul Cairn. When I first entered the Soul Cairn, I choose to do it by becoming a vampire, which I later cured. Now when I try to enter, the life draining effect that happened when I first tried to enter happens again. I tried to enter by becoming a vampire (again), and that still didn't work.

Serana's mother implied that you would be able to enter the SC again even if you didn't become a vampire again (she said something about your soul leaving a mark on the SC or something), but I'm not sure if that's supposed to work or not. However, I'm sure that it should work as vampire, but it doesn't work either.


Does anybody know how I can fix this?

I did things exactly like you, however, when I had Serana turn me into a Vampire Lord again it gave me access back into the Soul Cairn. Why it did for me and not for you I have no idea. :/

I guess at this point take consolation in the fact that the only things worth getting in the Soul Cairn are Durnheviir and his shout. Arvak is cool, but he isn't a make or break ya know? Plus, I expect this will be one of the myriad of things they will patch when they get around to fixing this DLC.

When you tried to go back, did you go back and could not did you load a previous game, or just continue after the failed attempt? And when you tried to go back as a vampire, did you get Serana to make you a Vampire Lord, or were just a vampire?

that happend to my first dawnguard character to

have serana turn you into a vampire again on the balcony, then enter the soul cairn, worked for me, i had the same problem.
