I can't save past a certain point, is it my mods?

Post » Fri Jan 07, 2011 11:04 pm

I recently started a new character, but I seem to have encountered a bug.

When I get to the point where it asks if you want to rebuild or edit your character before going out into the world, I can no longer save. If I try to save, the game crashes instantly.

Load Order:

FalloutNV.esm
Weapon Mod Expansion.esm
SAW M249.esp
DK_BulletTime_NV.esp
populatedcasino.esp
Project13 - Populated Wasteland.esp
realistic headshots.esp
Weapon Mod Expansion.esp
pnv.esp

help? it may or may not be something to do with my "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\Menus" folder, because I tried to do something with a selective fire mod and just copy+pasted the stuff, and i may have overwritten something.

if that seems to be the case, can anyone please upload a clean menus folder? if not then what is causing this? thanks.

So what are you saying? that you overwrote the original xml files in your menus folder without backing them up first?
if so, you're going to have to uninstall and reinstall, because there's obviously something missing in one, or several
of the xml files that causing the CTD.

Also, when you uninstall, check to see if that Menus folder still exists, and if it does, delete it, just
in case when you reinstall that the original menus xml files get written into the folder

EDIT: OK, according to your other thread, Menus are added by mods, so try deleting your menus folder.

The usual course of action would be to first reactivate each mod piece by piece, to isolate the source of the bug. You can't just make a guess that it's the menus folder because you think you maybe overwrote something. Start from scratch.

okay, it seems that when Populated Wasteland is turned off I can save normally. Is there anything I can do to fix it so I can leave it on? I love it and the new encounters it brings.

Populated Wasteland hasn't been updated for quite a while, now. Someone else has continued it for them under tha name of http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40176 Use that, instead.
