I can see Vvardenfell....?

Post » Thu Nov 29, 2012 3:14 pm

It's pretty well established that Vvardenfell was destroyed when Red Mountain blew up in 4E06, due to, in my biased opinion, Thalmor tampering. So how is it that the screenshots of Red Mountain show Vvardenfell in all its glory and existence?

Sorry, not sure why I said sank. I remember reading that it sank on the wiki, but all the books i had seen have just said destroyed. o.O

Well you're misinformed, Vvardefell didn't sink during the Red Year, rather it was devastated, invaded and all but de-populated but it didn't sink. The largest change in the geography not-whitstanding the obvious remodelling of Red Mountain's peak and slopes due to to lava flows and explosions would be the impact crater where Vivec used to be being a large circular bay rather than the smaller, more naturally shaped bay that was there before..

The only thing that could be said to have "sank" would be Vivec City. But even that didn't sink so much as it got turned into a massive crater...

BTW I was on the Throat of the World the other day and glanced east...an low and behold there was Red Mountain. I don't know if it was always there in the game or not - I certainly don't remember seeing it there before. Either way - good times!

I must have a unique version of the game. The only character of mine that has been up to Throat of the World was my very first one, back in Nov-Dec 2011, and I was able to see Vvardenfell with that character.

Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. To be honest, until recently I didn't really know what to look for ;)

It's always been there. I noticed it on my very first playthrough.
