I bought a home in whiterun and I can't sleep in the bed....

That's not your bed. That's Lydia's bed.

Take a sharp right at the top of the stairs, and sleep in your double bed and stop trying to sleep with the hired help.

It's because Whiterun has an infestation of bedbugs. The game is doing you a favor. :spotted owl:
