It's gonna be spoiled a million times before January, and spoilers never really ruined anything for me (except for things with very awesome stories) so might as well. So far no one has bothered to go into detail what the story is actually about, unless I have missed something.

Miraak is evil and wants to take over Solstheim. Hermy is a butt-face. At the end of the day, that's all you'll really take away, sadly. It's not the deepest storyline I've seen but that's not to say it isn't fun.

I'm sure someone else will put up a much more appropriate wall of text soon enough

Yeah, I was hoping for something a little bit more into detail. Unless that's the most detailed you can get, but that would make the story worse than Oblivion's and Skyrim's MQ combined.

Haha, no. I mean, there's definitely more to it. There's just nothing all that incredible IMO as far as lore development, save perhaps some stuff with the Skaal.

It's bound to rustle many jimmies. It kinda rustled mine a lil' bit, but only a little. I mean, not like it matters, when I got to thinking about it I realized it might actually turn out to be a good thing. There is already little to no reason of creating more than one character, so at least they picked a route and went with it.
Wait till it comes out on PC and/or it becomes common knowledge, though. The [censored]storm will be glorious.

Anyhow, I was serious when I said this topic can be locked. It's a stupid request since soon the entire storyline will be up on UESP. I'll read it there.

Some people get offended over anything... People who insist that every role-playing experience must have dire & irreversable choices... Quite frankly, I'm just going to Smith & Enchant several sets of equipment for my character & followers, then move those perk points over to spells after I'm done crafting.

Miraak strikes a deal with HM to acquire arcane power/knowledge on the condition that he becomes HM's champion and serves him in his realm, Apocrypha. Turns out that Miraak had planned to betray HM by escaping from Apocrypha therefore no longer being under HM's direct influence, however, Miraak had no means of doing so until he discovers you, Dovahkiin. Miraak plans to use your soul to escape from the Daedric Realm. He fails in this scheme, being severely weakened from his duel with you; and so HM finishes him off then officially crowns you his Dragonborn champion. Simply put, Miraak wanted to cheat a Daedric Prince but failed miserably.

from what i understand, miraak was HM's b!tch. HM kills (and disintegrates) miraak during the final battle and makes you his new b!tch. HM then gives you the ability to respec

kind of underwhelming really. was expecting more from miraak

No. He speaks to you, not with you. At the end, you become his new [censored] after acquiring Miraak's soul, and he warns you not to even think about betraying him or he will tentacle [censored] you (serious). Not much you can do to HM since you are in his Daedric Realm.

Wow. That's seriously underwhelming. So Miraak and the MQ was just an excuse to lead you to Solstheim, basically.
I'm guessing the side quests are a lot better.
