Can someone make a mod so that all corpses and blood remain

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:46 pm

One of the things I enjoyed so much about other Free Roam RPG, such as Fallout 3 etc, is that many of the corpses from my kills remain on the ground for quite some time.

Would it be possible, and do you guys agree, that it would add to the realism and immersion to have corpses remain on the ground permanently? While a degradeing system into bones would be cool, I would be happy just to have the body and blood stains remain permanently after I make kills.

Anyone?

I imagine if done too much in one area this could become taxing on the system.

The data would start to build up after a while and make your game save/s larger, and could cause problems in other ways (e.g amassing a pile of bodies in one area, which while being pretty sweet your system might not appreciate it).

Bodies and blood vanish over time to save on data and make the game play better.

So if you got a rig that can handle it...by all means.

didnt MMM for FO3 have a decomposition feature? I'd be ok with them disappearing over time thru decomposition.

There's two settings -

RemoveExcessDeadCount - set to 15.
RemoveExcessDeadTimer - set to 10.

My assumption is the timer is set to 10 days. I can make a mod in just a few minutes that'll change those values. Let me know what you'd prefer for it. If you go offline, PM me tomorrow and I can make it.

Side question before I make my request. Will there be continuous respawns in certain areas? let's say I kill 2 bears and one other npc in a small "area". If the corpses remain permanently and I return in 1-3 game days...will I have respawns of the same npcs there?

All this being said....

I have a strong system. Can you make a mod that sets it permanently (maybe 1000 days? ) lol, seriously though.

And then maybe a mod that also does 40 days or so?

I think my brand new comp, ram, gfx card etc can handle it all!?!

The NPC's respawn by default at 10 days for a non-cleared area, and 30 days for a cleared area. So the timer is by default set so that when anything respawns, the dead are cleared out. If the dead timer is longer than 10 days, and you don't clear it fully, you will likely have corpses in an area with the respawned NPC's.

Here it is. I went with 30 days for the lower-grade one to match the respawn timer on cleared areas. This is untested, as I don't have a computer that can handle this. So if there's something up with it, let me know. However, it's just the changing of two variables, so I don't foresee any issues.

Thank you for your help my friend. Question though....when reading your explanation (which I'm sure is well detailed) I feel like I'm studying for the LSAT. lol, if x is 10 days then smaller variable is now 30 days and dead bodies do Y.

I'm a bit confused.

1 - can you clarify your mod and what it will change?

2 - lastly, what about permanent corpses with a much longer respawn time? Basically....what do you and others think would be "best" way to try and accomplish....what I'm trying to accomplish???

Thanks!

Basically, instead of dead bodies remaining for 10 days - they'll stay for 30 days. :) Instead of a max limit of 15 bodies, there's now a max limit of 45. In the extreme version, it's a 1000 days and a 1000 bodies. I'm going to try and put up a simple guide to changing the variables to what someone may like. I'm currently working on another modification (adding in spells), so it'll be a bit later today though. Also, nice timing. You asked that question just when I came to check the forums.
