Can I still buy the house in Windhelm if... : V

I side with the Legion? The Only reason I'm choosing Stormcloaks is so that I can live in Windhelm. If I can still live in Windhelm and join the legion that would be preferable. Anybody know?

I am pretty sure they just replace the current Jarl with one sympethetic to the side you chose.

Just do the blood Ice quest. (you have to leave and enter Windhelm 3-4 times)

Yes, you can, but I think it takes a while (game time) before it becomes available. I sided with the Empire and tried to buy the house immediately but I wasn't able to, ended up getting the option a while later.

Edit: make sure you pay the Steward to clean up the murder stains before you buy any of the upgrades, too.
