Can't talk to Mysterious Woman

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:04 am

So against my better judgement I decided to purchase Dawnguard. I'm only about ten minutes into it and apparently have run into an issue where I cannot talk to the Mysterious woman. I've activated the sarcophagus and am staring at the mysterious woman now, but the quest won't continue any further. This leaves me stuck where I am until I can speak to her.

Any help is appreciated up to and including console commands if necessary.

Did you try a reload from an earlier save ? Perhaps it was a momentary hick up.

OOOH yeah. Several times. Tried from before I even left Riften. Tried re-downloading Dawnguard, tried disabling all my mods, tried deleting Script Dragon and SKSE, nothing has helped so far. Seems to me that something is preventing the quest from updating, thus preventing me from continuing the quest.

I did a little more searching here on the forums and discovered someone else with this problem, but saw no solution. This could be fixed is someone knew the console command that advances the quest past this point, but Google has been no help here.

I play on Xbox so I'm not too well versed in console commands but would it be the same command you would use for any other stuck quest to push you along ? Or does each quest have a different command for pushing through ?
Hmmmmmmmmm....... I'm stumped  seeing how you re-downloaded it and turned everything off I have no clue as to what maybe preventing the progression, ( stupid question but I gotta ask ) did you talk to everyone at the start or did you take off the second you got the quest marker ? Perhaps it's a little dialog that's keeping the quest from progressing. Did everything seem to run smoothly through out the quest ?

Everything seemed to run smoothly until I activated the sarcophagus. I believe that is the part where she is supposed to speak to me,but the quest isn't updating when I do that.

I'm really stumped  man! The second she steps out of the coffin she's supposed to ask you a couple question, then the quest continues. I cannot believe that I cannot find anything regarding this glitch on the interwebs  I'll keep searching, in the mean time I do hope someone else can help you out better the I did. If I come across anything I'll post it ASAP.

THat's the thing, she won't even step out of the crypt. It's like she's stuck there.

After the crypt pops up you must activate it again... then it will open.

It's already open. No matter what I do, she just stays in there looking like she's still sleeping. She won't come out, the quest won't update, and I've hit a brick wall...and I'm only ten minutes into it.

I'm on 360 so i can't really help you, but do you have any vampire mods running? or maybe some other mods don't go well with the DLC... dunno.

Finally I found an answer. Found the console command to allow me to continue the quest. For anyone that may run into this problem in the future, here it is: resetquest dlc1vq01

So now she speaks to you or did the console command skip that? and is she now following you?

It didn't skip it, she just fell out of her coffin and started talking like she was supposed to. I haven't done anything more yet, first I've got to re install script dragon and SKSE, then re-enable all my mods and rebuild my bashed patch.

I'm hoping this is the first and last game breaking bug I run into with Dawnguard...but this is a Bethesda game after all, and we all know how they tend to work out don't we?
