I'm just curious if I should save my Black Star for him...

No. The death is part of a scripted event. And you don't actually kill him.

You eat his soul. That is perma-death.

No,
Spoiler

Because his health bar still shows life left when Mora pops in and stabs him with the tentacles.

I've had dragons killed by guards, giants and mammoths. Doesn't stop me having lunch.

Well I guess the only way to solve it is someone load up a save file and give it a try.

No offense, but the answer is fairly obvious to me.

It wouldn't matter anyway...a Grand soul is a Grand soul no matter where it comes from. :)

You get a number of Dragon souls from Miraak, though I think it's implied that you get so many because his soul is so powerful.

So no, you cannot.

I think he's too powerful to be trapped inside a Soul Gem. Like every other Boss.

Can you not soul trap the boss of Dawnguard? Because I've soul trapped all the guild "bosses" from the main game of Skyrim.

That's because they didn't have anything special about them, only in what they were using (AKA: CoW, the Thalmor guy had the Eye of Magnus. The actual person didn't have anything special about him, like Miraak did, as he was the Dragonborn).

I think Miraak is different. Plus, we Defeat him, but
Spoiler
WE don't kill him.

I'm not saying I'm correct though, as I havn't tried it myself, but I believe he's one of those "Too Powerful" NPC's.

You can't soul trap Miraak, he'll resist it, just like the Dragons (if you can it's most likely a glitch). The soul is supposed to go in you.
So there you have it. You'll be walking around with a piece of him inside you for all eternity.

Deal with it.

You can't because he's dragonborn, so lust like you he has the soul of a dragon and no soul gems in the game are large enough to hold a dragon soul

You can't trap his soul. You devour it yourself. Of say that's more impressive anyway.

Too bad all those DS were useless to me. I had like 40 already, because it was my main that I've had since the launch day of Skyrim, and had done everything and killed countless dragons. So at the end I had like 55 or 60 souls.
overkill is overkill, so it doesn't matter that I got more. Lolol.

I wouldn't want to Soul Trap Miraak anyway.
Then he'd be "alive", in the Soul Cairn.
Wouldn't want that. I'd rather he just stayed dead, or in my tummy.
