Can you but horse hide from a merchant ?

How might you get some besides killing a horse ?

(needed for house furnishings in mod i'm using )

I believe so, I've seen Horse Hide with a lot of merchants.

Seeing as how you're on PC, why not just add it with the console?

Yes, also the poachers camps generally have some.
