Can you Kill Karliah?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:48 pm

I very much want Karliah's armor, but I also want the Skeleton Key, my only fear is if I let her live too long she'll become essential and I won't be able to loot her sweat gear. So, my question is, can she be killed, and secondly does she at any point in the Thieves Guild questline become essential?

She gives you her bow & and you get a set of nightingale armor without killing her. Also she doesn't have the skeleton key, Mercer does.

Even if you can't kill her, can you at least stuff a sock in her mouth? Use duct tape? Rip out her vocal chords? Her voice is irritating.

I want the best looking unenchanted light armor in the game because I know my own enchantments trump the nightingale gear, Karliah just happens to be the unfortunate owner of such a set. Also, it seems like you have a choice between Mercer and Karliah at a certain point in the quest, I wasn't sure if backing Karliah and progressing far enough into the questline to get the Skeleton Key would make her essential (for completing the questline) and therefor unkillable.

There is no choice to back Mercer.

The nightingale enchantments see pretty sweet, the head gear you could do better but the chest and hands would be hard to top.

Like everyone else has said no killing Karliah unless you're on pc and use console commands. The Nightengale armor you get is pretty useful and I actually liked Karliah as opposed to a LOT of the characters you interact with in Skyrim.

I was just wanted a confirmation, no need to run me out of the forums on a board. Also, is it possible to steal the armor with the master level pickpocket perk?

What fun. Ah well, thanks for the responses. Don't suppose she has it in her inventory when she switches to the Nightingale Armor? I'm grasping at straws, I know, but I REALLY want that armor!

I doubt that she gets rid of it. It's merely a matter of whether or not it's marked as playable at that point.

I hadn't even considered whether or not it would be flagged as playable. Yikes.

I was just in her inventory when she was not wearing the armor it did not even show up for me, so apperently it can not be taken from her. I also went to the "QA smoke" test room which contains everything in the game that a player can use without cheats and did not see a non enchanted set of Nightingale armor so that would leave me to think that with out PC mods it would not be playable.

This is the kinda thing that makes me wish you could dis-enchant weapons and armor. As an example, if you don't have the enchantment off an item it destroys the item and you gain the spell effect as one you can custom enchant on your own gear (as the system currently works), but if you already have the spell effect you could simply remove the enchantment, making it open to custom enchantments. Seriously, how flipping cool would be it to be able to clear all the enchantments off of something like Nightingale Armor or the Guild Master's Armor and put your own enchantments in their place?

on a side note, her voice is terrible. She must be the daughter or mother in law of one of the programmers, surely not a paid actress. I have thought about killing her several times...not for her armor.

Yeah, I thought she was one of the better ones in Skyrim. Whoever does Farengar can sound pretty horrid at times, though.
