is there a way to move objects around like you could in oblivion?

i want to put some objects ON some things to make it look more decorated or what have you.

whats the button or did they remove that?

Hold down the pick up item button.

You can move items by holding activate button ("E" as default on PC). You can also move corpses with the same method.

On the xbox you hold the A button over the item you want to move, what console are you on?
