Can you optain ebony armor etc. without...

Do high level armor like ebony, glass, deadric get droppet or sold in this game at all? Or is it only obtainable through smithing? I have found ebony and glass weapons, but dwarven is still the best armor type I have found and I began finding those almost 15 levels ago (now lv 30).

I'm not sure about them being sold (as Im only lvl 35 myself) but they do for sure drop in dungeons around our level. I've obtained a full ebony set alone just from dungeon exploring. Haven't come across any daedric as of yet though...

I've not found them SOLD anywhere, yet. But I've opttained Glass and Ebony weapons as drops from Boss Creatures. A couple of glass axes abd and ebony blade. all have been dropped while I've been between lvl 21 and 24. So they are out there. Depends what your fighting I guess, but it possible. You can even upgrade them slightly without having the smith skill to create from scratch.

Can you find dragonscale armour anywhere without the need for smithing?

Yes. You can find (almost) every type of armor/weapon as random loot. However, the higher quality the item, the rarer it is to find as random loot.

The only type I believe you can only get from smithing is Dragonplate/scale. Though I am only just now finding bits of Daedric armor/weapons (mostly arrows and boots) so perhaps I just need to level up a bit more before I start to find Dragon armor.

I've reached level 40, and have found a few ebony items, such as gauntlets and boots... The chest piece you can get from completing the Imperial Legion quests (unless that's a random reward), or you can buy it from a blacksmith when you reach level 40 for some 5000 (more or less depending on speech skill)

It's all very random and luck based, I found a dragonbone shield in a random cave at lvl 19

I just found a Daedric armor part in a chest. I've been finding a lot of Ebony too. I'm at very close to level 40 though.

I have a hard time believing that, considering the random loot is scaled to your level.

Scaling loot doesn't mean the game isn't allow rare "out of depth" loots :)

Yes, but it is very rare. NPCs labelled Mercenary sometimes wear it, but only at higher levels.

You can get Ebony Mail from the Boethia Daedric quest, it's a really awesome version of the Ebony Chest Piece :3

I found an Ebony Sword recently - I'm only level 18.

None of the shops have anything that matches it performance (or looks!) wise.

Sort of relevant...(you can find Ebony items)

I got an ebony greatsword and bow at level 2.

TAKEN FROM ANOTHER POST I MADE:

Just an FYI for something I found quite curious on playing a new character.
If you begin the game and wander over to Labyrinthian you can quite easily head inside, kill two or three Draugr (on Adept difficulty), save as you go, and find a chamber with a big pit in it. Above the pit is a Draugr Deathlord with an Ebony Bow who will one shot you if he manages to hit you.
If you want a melee weapon, hop in the pit and jump down the beams that run across it. Get to the bottom and quickly hop up onto a rock at the side of the cave that has a chest on it.
Turn around and a Draugr Deathlord with an Ebony two-hander (it has been greatsword and axe for me) will be standing there watching you. Pull your destro magic out and torch him for about five minutes. He'll stand and watch you, occasionally shouting at you to try and disarm you.
Kill him, loot the chest, grab his gear, then head back outside. If you're a masochist, you can head back in and spend fifteen minutes catching the ebony arrows the other Deathlord fires at you, saving all the while. When you have about ten or twelve, load them into your bow and fire them back at him. You should kill him relatively easily if you can get used to dodging in and out from his arrows.

I usually end up doing this at level two, as my skills have leveled me by then.

Meet Geoffrey, http://imgur.com/rCopG,ivRts,iUBSv. He was level five when I screencapped him.
