Can you play Skyrim multiple times?

Post » Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:54 pm

I recently deleted my xbox account and cannot retrieve it as i forgot my e-mail and password. I then had to make a new account with a new Skyrim save which at first i thought would be fun, i mean, a new character, a new start! boy was i wrong.
The main quests are becoming a drag and i'm only on 'the throat of the world' quest. Although the side quests are really fun i'm finding it hard to complete the main quests a second time over, wondering if any of you guys were/are the same as me?
I still play Skyrim regularly and i'm hoping to drag myself through this main story line so i can do side quests etc.

A poster in another thread made a good point which I agree with: Skyrim is meant to be played once. No replayability.

I love all TES games though, but when it comes to Skyrim it is just a tad linear in terms of the MQ. Oblivion was just as bad, but Morrowind's always had something different.

As a side note, I know you said before that you are a graphics guy but believe me, play Morrowind. It will change your view of Skyrim (SInce Morrowind is a real RPG. Skyrim is a terrible RPG.)

I totally agree after playing it a second time, i mean once the main quests are finished with i should start having some major fun! :)

I've played a fair few characters over the past 10 months.
I don't do everything with 1 character.
It doesn't have as much replayability as MW IMO but certainly as much as Oblivion.

How many characters have you played? it would be interesting to know on my behalf

I can play multiple times. I have 22 characters and most of them have completed or are in the process of completing the MQ.

I've started over on several characters and know what you're talking about. I think of the main quests as something you just sort of have to do. Once you get past them, though, you'll start having fun again.

I think it's a decently replayable game, just take care not to do 'too much' with one character, and try to put some variety into every new character build and personality you make.
I've probably played dozens of characters.

i find this strange (not you, the idea of playing many different characters) could you tell me how you make it different so that you can have a different enjoyable experience each time?

after the main quests i suppose everything is random and different (to a degree) after the MQ you can start shaping your character to your personality/tastes.

6 who I've put a decent amount of time into, finished a questline or whatever objectives I set for them when I created them. Given my compulsive restartitis innumerable characters who never got very far before I decided their hair colour was the wrong shade or something equally inconsequential

Haha ill probably make another character soon as i like the look of some others, ive been an elf twice now (blood then wood) and i just want to make things different. I'll probably make a new one in a few months but i'd have to leave myself a one month break before that.

I've played 4 characters (quit playing a couple months ago). Two mage types, and two warrior types. The only character that was enjoyable was my first, probably because I hadn't yet fully realized just how shallow TES has become...more so than Oblivion. In fact, I have gone so far as re-purchasing Oblivion, and am now playing through it again after more than 2 years away from it. I am thoroughly enjoying it as well... far deeper than Skyrim could ever hope to be.

OP, in my opinion there's only one valid answer for this: roleplaying. You're not the one playing the same game over and over, it's your characters who "play" differently every time and react differently to the same situations, even though they all go through the same quests. I have over a dozen of completely different characters, ranging from powerful mages to sneaky archers and I'm currently playing a farmer with no combat skills whatsoever. So yes, you definitely can play Skyrim multiple times with the right state of mind.

so your farmer...what skills do you get up on it? That sounds very like me actually as i wouldn't want to do the main quests, this has interested me a lot!

Maybe you'll find it encouraging then that I've given them all the same build and race with very little aesthetic changes.

I started the game in a farm I own thanks to a mod, then I discovered an iron ore near home and needed a pickaxe. So I traveled to Solitude with no weapons and gear at all and ran away from any bad encounters along the road. On the way back home I stumbled upon some wolves and defended myself with the pickaxe, there, One Handed leveling up. Since I have to go back and forth from home to Solitude to sell my cabbages and buy some meat, I thought I needed some decent gear, so I bought iron armor from the blacksmith, again did some bad encounter et voilà, Heavy Armor and Block leveling up. Since I am a farmer I'm supposed to know what I'm dealing with, so along the road I always pick up plants, so Alchemy goes up as well. When I need to cure myself, Restoration is the way to go.

These are my farmer skills so far. Perhaps one day he'll find himself good with a bow as well, who knows.

Oh, forgot to mention, since he didn't start as a fighter I used console commands to set every skill to an inital 0.

Multiple times? I doubt I'll stop playing it (save occasional pauses) until TES VI...

It's what the PC version has....you think you're gone with the game? "Oh, wow, look at that new questmod/dungeon that was just released on Skyrim Nexus! Let's try it!", "Ohh, what a cool armor/weapons/spells/gameplay/house/etc, I wanna try it!", etc...

You've inspired me big time, i cant thank you enough! I'm going to create a blacksmith character however finding money will be hard. Any ways in which money can be made without leveling up any combat skills whatsoever? i svck at money making just to say, and the farmer thing sounds awesome but i play on xbox sadly :(

I've leveled five characters into the 40's and 50's so far. I intend to keep playing many more characters for years to come.

Sell the stuff you forge to merchants, simpler as that.

Not if you mine your own ore. Start making jewels.
