Can you use 'Perfect Touch' to change a spouse's clothing?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:02 am

I'm not yet married in my current play through, but I was curious if I can use 'Perfect Touch' to change a spouse's gear if they're a non-follower. I'm getting sick and tired of having NPCs die during dragon attacks without me noticing only to realize a few hours later and have to decide whether or not to reload to save them--I'd like to avoid running into this issue with my spouse if possible.

I have only tried it up to the point where I made all guards in Whitrun naked, but I would think putting clothes on them would be possible. It is a matter if they stay on and don't reset to default though. Also if you didn't know... NPCs are scripted to do only 50% damage to dragons than they usually would do so they don't go down as easy when a villager is fighting them. Are you on PC or console? On PC you can use the console to add the perk and try it?

NPCs won't equip anything that isn't their default outfit unless they're following you. The exception to this is any type of shield, but only in combat.

Ridiculous.. it was possible in New Vegas. I don't see why it can't be implimented here.

New Vegas wasn't made by Bethesda, so it is not unlikely that the capability enhancements were not copied from the New Vegas engine to the Skyrim engine.

It is a bit daft that you can rob someone of their clothes, (without them apparently noticing!), but they won't then dress themselves if you give them something else. I've married Lydia and I didn't even have to pick-pocket her clothes...I bought them from her. (I thought being my wife meant I could get her naked for free, but not so!)

Thing is, every time I get home to Breezehome and Lydia's there, she's in her undies.

What made me chuckle the other day was I dismissed her in a City somewhere and she said she was heading home. I wandered off in a different direction to finish one more task in Morthal so I could become Thane. Did that, went to see the Jarl, got my title, left Morthal and walked up the road, only to see my wife wandering along the road with her Ebony Long-Sword on her back and not wearing anything!!

My next little trick is going to be to dress her in the Wedding outfit I recently acquired. ;)
