Cannot get BoS 'Lockdown Lifted' stage

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:46 am

I've posted about this before but want to try again since I am stuck in the game. I hope someone can help.

I have completed all BoS quests, and Veronica's quests. I left McNamara as head of BoS so I could eventually broker a treaty between them and NCR. However no matter how long I wait, all McNamara ever says is 'sorry outsider, i'm busy preparing for lifting the lockdown'. I have waited after completing the quests, doing other things for a long time. Still no change.

I saw a suggestion to use the console with the following command:

set "000E327C" .LockdownLifted to 1 , and the result is:

unknown variable '000E327C'

After more research i decided the command i should be using is:

set VDialogueHIddenVally.LockdownLifted to 1 , and the result is:

missing variable name in set command

Help! I really don't want to take out the BoS, but I can't continue with the NCR if i don't either wipe the BoS out or broker a treaty. I have decided that if i can't resolve this then i am just going to settle down in the Lucky38 with Cass and Veronica (Cass is real accomodating with a few whiskeys in her) and live whatever days i have left as a happy man, and let the war go as it may. Veronica wants us to adopt the two rat-chasing kids from Freeside, and i just might to get one last bit of Karma. I sure as heck ain't going to have any kids of my own after all of the radiation I've taken over the course of wandering the Mojave. But I digress..

How the heck do i get the lockdown lifted so i can move on?

Have you gotten him the parts to fix the vault systems yet?

You left the Elder in charge but did you do ANYTHING for Hardin? I just avoid the guy like a plague, as playing both sides is so buggy. I've found in my last three games there is no grace period between delivering the parts and the lockdown being lifted. I'd turn them over to Lorenzo then report to the Elder and proceed directly into Eyesight to the Blind

Have you gotten him the parts to fix the vault systems yet?

More importantly has he delivered the parts Lorenzo then told the Elder.

Looking at the wiki all I can find is this
resetquest 0015d79d
setstage 0015d79d 100

Thanks for the suggestions. I did talk to Hardin at first but never told him what i found in the archives. I did get the parts to fix the air system, gave tehm to Lorenzo and then told the elder, but then McNamara never gave me the Eyesight quest, so i used the console to force it to happen, and then completed it. I think i tried the reset quest sequence too and it made no difrerence.

I've been having the exact same problem as you, Seabert, but finally found a solution.

I was stupid enough to talk to Hardin about removing McNamara after giving Lorenzo the filtration parts, which of course ground the quest to a halt. After reading all related wiki-articles, I finally found a solution.

Console start:

resetquest 0015d79d (this is the quest-ID for Still in the Dark)
setstage 0015d79d 100
/set "000E327C".LockdownLifted to 1 (yes, you forgot the / )

Console end.

After doing this, McNamara gave me Eyesight to the Blind, and a conversation topic about NCR. After talking to him, For the Republic pt 2 updated.

Hope this helps!

That did it! Thanks Duke!

Yes, I AM somebody! I AM a paladin! And I got my treaty!

I can't believe I missed the slash. Thanks for catching that!

Next time you're in the Atomic Wrangler, drinks are on me!

For future reference:

The best thing to do, assuming you want to keep McNamara in command of the BoS (which is required if you want them to ally with the NCR), is to make sure you do not speak to Hardin past the initial forced meeting under any circumstances. I take the additional step of not even trying to find out how to replace an Elder, although I suspect that's not necessary due to how the glitch occurs.

What happens is that one can ally with Hardin right up to the point at which you report to McNamara that you got the parts for the air filtration system, while that option is supposed to be blocked upon turning in the parts to Lorenzo. As a result, talking to Hardin between talking to Lorenzo and McNamara causes both Hardin and McNamara to 'lock up', and the dialogue where the lockdown is lifted never occurs.

If you choose to replace McNamara with Hardin, you will have to destroy the BoS in the end quests, unless you opt out during Wild Card: Side Bets by telling Yes Man that they can be ignored. As I am still working that quest line at this time I do not know if that will hold, though.
