Dear all,

I just bought and finished downloading the game on steam. While I ran the game at the first time, it crashed and was forced to close without telling me any cause. After thtat, I restarted my laptop and tried it again. Still, same problem.
So do you have the same kind of problem as shown below. Do you know how to solve this problem?

Same problem here.

i5 and ATI 4850x2

After I try to start the game, all I see is a black screen and I crash back to desktop.

After that the GPU doesn't work anymore and I need to reboot the PC.

Try reinstalling the drivers. did you remove all drivers before you installed the new drivers etc? what are your CCC settings i read something about the Catalyst AI settings can cause crashing of the game. i cannot be much help to you though as i only run 1 HD5850 and i have never really had any problems with loading the game it was just the textures.

I could not load the game at all when i first installed it but i was running 11.7 Drivers i installed the RAGE performance drivers that was released and the game started. now im on 11.10 preview drivers and its working amazingly well with no rageconfig.cfg file.

Tried every trick I read on the forum and I'm too on the last preview drivers. But all I get is a black screen.

have you tryed adding atioglxx.dll too you game folder?

Do a clean install of the new ATI beta drivers 11.10 V2 and make sure the OpenGL triple buffering is unchecked in the CCC, otherwise the game will crash on load.

I have downloaded all the patches and hot fixes. The last patch of the game was today. I downloaded the hot fixes for the drivers.
But i can see only intro video,and then only deep black screen. The processor is thinking. The screen flashes a light black. And that's all.
I even tried to write into the configuration settings that you recommended.
Nothing helped. For unknown reasons, mutliplayer's races is working. Rather quickly. But with the freezes. Same with the regime to play together in the story. Where to start in prison, where you need to find a rifle.
This is what goes. And the brakes at the same time too much for my system. But single player is dead.

I had the same problem (I have a core i5 760 with an AMD ATI 6850, Win7 Pro 64bits) : I made a clean install of the last ATI driver (package version 8.901.2-111006a-126548E-ATI), I installed Rage this afternoon, Steam downloaded the patch. I then tried to launch the game, but I only had a black screen and the game crashed, I wasn't even able to see the intro video.

I make the following config into the Catalyst Center : https://imgur.com/a/C2eZL, the only difference with this picture is that I have disabled the "Enable Surface Optimization" and I put the vertical refresh on "On, unless application specifies". I also created the /id software/rage/ directory under my Appdata/local/ directory.

It works with these parameters.

Check your VSync settings in the single player game menu, make sure it's on. Mine likes to reset itself to off during area loads, crashes every time I change areas in the game. Wont load up again until I go into the settings and switch it on again.

That and the horrid texture mess.

Another possibility which worked on other forums :

- Run the game in windowed mode
- Once you've passed the title video, ALT+ENTER to go to fullscreen

Sorry but I don't remember the windowed mode command option.
