I am an avid user of the quick save and save function of every video game I play. This is a critical function for me, so I was dismayed this evening when I started Rage, got to a point where I wanted to quick save, tapped the button and heard a beep instead.

What happened? Did a setting change? How do I fix this? Any game that I can't quick save in, is unplayable for me. I would like to finish this game, so I hope someone here can help me.

This issue fixed itself. When I moved from Wellspring into the Wasteland, the save function started working again. I assume it was just a glitch caused by the patch.

Were you in the Mutant Bash TV area when you had the problem? You can't save in there.

I can reproduce this problem by accepting a mission from the job board, such as a "sniper protection" style mission, then cancel the mission at the prompt that asks if you're "ready to go to the mission area". After this point, the save option is often unavailable and the quicksave button does not work. It remains this way until after the next loading screen into a new area. I can't imagine this is intended to behave this way.

There are points in the game where saving is disabled, during specific parts in missions etc.

It's not a bug.
