Cant adopt :(

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:11 am

Hello :)

I got Hearthfire a couple of days ago and have FULLY built (and removed the workbenches) the home in between Dawnstar and Solitude (cant remember its name)

Ive married Ysolda and she is currently on her way to the house, but when I try to adopt a child the only dialogue I get is that I cannot adopt a child until I have a room for them, yet I have the West Wing bedroom with two childs beds!!!

Anyone know of any fixes for this?

Do you also have child's chests built?

Did you make sure to start the DB questline?

Also, here are sibe adoption-related bugs i found on wikia:
  • With Hearthfire installed, you may not be able to adopt children after failing to have a room for them the first time.
  • With Hearthfire installed, your personal steward and bard may decide to sleep in the beds for children, making it impossible to adopt.
Maybe try the following:
- taking to one of the children added by the DLC, i.e. orphans who are not in Riften. One's in Whiterun, one in Windhelm, one in Solitude and one in Dawnstar.
- if you have a house in one of the cities, try adding a children's room to it (talk to the relevant steward).

You need child's chests regardless.
If you want orphanage kids, you must initiate the DB questline, terminate Grelod, then talk to Aventus so Constance calms down.
There are four kids you can adopt from the streets without doing the DB stuff. But you need the chests.

When you say "try to adopt", do you mean at the orphanage or by talking to one of the orphans in the towns as mentioned above?
