I cant even start the game....

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:40 pm

Buying this game for the Xbox was a complete and utter mistake. Let me just get that out of the way.

I've had no trouble whatsoever getting it to boot up and run the first couple of days, but today I tried starting it and it did one of two things:

first: the main menu would turn completely light blue sometimes which is obviously not what's supposed to happen.

and if this doesnt happen, it goes to a loading screen, and freezes as soon as it's finished.

BETHESDA, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I can't even start the game! I bought this 3 days ago and it's a complete mess on the console. I'm not going to even mention the texture issues, looks like I'll be switching over to pc cause I'm just about done with the Xbox.

Do you still have your reciept? Exchange it for a new copy. Seems alot of people are having this problem. It could be the new technology that Microsoft made to fit more information on a disk. So try exchanging the disk. Next call Microsoft support and see what they can do. Most likely nothing but they need to know some of our Xboxs are not working with their new tech.

Wait a second... you going to switch over to PC? You mean you will get the PC version of Skyrim? If so, you are mad at Bethesda and going to give them more money? :whistling: You know alot of PC players are having issues as well.

It sounds like the problem may be with your disc or your 360. Do other games play on the system? Can you try the disc on another system. For what its worth, I have a 360 S and have not experienced any issues whatsoever. You may want to just exchange the game for a new copy - tell them it's defective...good luck!

I tried oblivion and cod: black ops and they both work fine. It's definitely the game. I'm going to stop and gamestop and demand they give me a new copy, this is just ridiculous.

Do not demand, but ask nicely. They should be doing straight exchanges. Just keep in mind, you may have a 360 that is different from others that may not work.

Do you have a friend who has a 360? Does it work for him? Install the game on a memory stick and see if this helps. Maybe being installed on the memory stick it will load up for you now. Maybe Gamespot can do it for you as well. This way you are playing off the memory stick instead of the HDD or using the DVD.

i called gamestop and they said it's probably that my disc drive needs to be cleaned. I have the older 120 GB elite version of the xbox.

they also said they'd swap me a new copy if i wanted, so I guess there's no reason not to do that.

Everyone blames the xbox needs cleaning. So many times I have cleaned it and then only did Microsoft said, "send it in and we will fix it" then they said it would cost over $100 I said no thank you. Funny how other games work and a brand spanking game doesn't work?

No cleaning is not the soluting but the easist thing to say to place blame else where. Hopefully a new copy will help.

I'd just go with a new disc...seems unlikely to me that it has anything to do with the disc drive - otherwise I would think that other games wouldn't work...I had a problem with a Modern Warfare 2 disc before that I exchanged and then no problems...hopefully that is the case for you...

If that doesn't work then ill swap my disc for a new one and hopefully that one works. If it doesnt well...bye bye xbox

Yeah, the last thing you should do if you are unhappy with a product is give the people that made it MORE money.

I am getting the "can't read disc" now. I have played for over 4 hours, just played a game, it froze, so I shut xbox off and now can't play Skyrim. So now I have the same problems. I threw out my reciept. :banghead:

Hopefully will be able to exchange it.

Well I restarted my xbox twice now. On the second restart, when I loaded the game, I hit A button as it was loading and this time it worked. I don't think this is the trick, and it just started eventually, but I thought I would mention it, and see if someone can try this and see if it works.

Right now with no communitcation from Bethesda, (at least Kerebros and Pradox was talking to us and letting us know what was going on) we need to help each other as much as possible.

So can someone try this and let us know if it works or not.
