Cant find Varona's body

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 10:05 pm

This body in question is for the reluctant steward quest, and points into the Tel Mithryn steward's house. I enter it and the waypoint on the compass is directing me through the wall. I have an odd feeling she fell through the map. Is there any fix for this? it happens even if I reload a save.

Read the Bugs section of this page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Dragonborn:Reluctant_Steward
Note, I found her body outside just North of the Silt Strider.
Hope that helps

Yeah, for me she's almost at the nearby power stone. Also her body isn't cleaning up.

I always found her body just North of Dusty as well, up near where three Ash Spawn will attack you.

Some people have reported that Unrelenting Force may lift her body up on the map again.
Try shouting at the marker.

Unfortunately that did not work.

The problem is, this happened the first time I went to Tel Mythrin (spelling), which was pretty much thirty minutes into Dragonborn. The aprentice was summoning the Ash Guardian, and she happened to be there, and died the three times I reloaded trying to save her for my morality's sake. So I really dont feel like going through the ENTIRE DLC just to fix this glitch. Oh well, there is still Karstaag.

So it was the Ash Guardian who killed her not the Ash Spawn, now I see why she is in the house. Did you try the go to Skyrim and wait at least 30 days trick to see if it resets and her body surfaces? Or perhaps although her body is in an unreachable place, can you cast some sort of resurrect spell on her to get her to follow you to a more convenient location?

There are also all sorts of strange tricks for glitching though walls, if you have some spare time you could have a bit of fun exploring with some of them. Possible if you can just see through the wall of the house, you could cast a spell on the body if you can find it. I have not really experimented much with glitches, only ever having to do it twice to get through some gates.

Edit
All three of my characters managed to kill the Ash Guardian before it endangered anyone, so I could not test out where exactly the body might land in your situation. I grabbed a wooden plate pushed it up against the flattest part of the back of the steward's house, that was head height, pushed against it and just ran through the wall. Her body should be there under the house, you can just walk back out through the wall. If it glitches out and ruins your quest, I see no reason why using a glitch should not be used to complete the quest.

The spot I chose was not directly at the back, but to the left as you face the back side of the mushroom. As I said I am not that experienced at glitching through walls, that was the easiest for me. You can see the wooden plate on the ground in the right side of the picture showing where I went through the wall.

Whirlwind Sprint can also help when pushing against the plate, but you might end up sprinting right through the under section of the mushroom.

Yet another glitch that I had the dumb luck to avoid. I found the steward's corpse when I fast-traveled back to Tel Mithran. I thought it was some bad accident, I try to avoid NPC deaths, so I reloaded and tried again a couple times. I did not meet Neoleth until I stumbled on the corpse and got the quest pop up.

When I landed on Raven Rock (and not vice-versa, lol) I wanted to explore but not evoke the familiar Skyrim glitches so I took a right turn and walked all the way around the island, following map markers to find about half of all landmarks but not entering any of them. I met Varona while she was still alive but kept walking.

I've now finished the main quest, the 7 black books and most of the side quests and nothing glitched on me--no stuck quests, except the ever-lasting pendent quest, which is not a glitch, and no stuck inventory except those darn black books.

Other than the Dawnguard holdover glitch where I randomly turn into a partial vampire (reload immediately), both Hearthfire and Dragonborn have been delightful, error-free experiences so I'd like to thank Beth for enabling me to love Skyrim again.
