Cant get into candlekeep

Cannot enter candle keep even with the book from the duke. any ideas!!

This must be Baldurs Gate (1). Sorry, ive never played this far, lost my saves after severeal breaks.

You need to bring a tome and give it to the guard outside of candlekeep.
