CanWould a Nord ever be an archer?

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 1:30 am

I keep restarting my playthroughs based on stupid roleplay/lore things. Can a Nord realistically speaking (Lore/game wise) be an archer, im not talking about leveling up archery because a cat can be a master archer if he uses the bow enough im just asking if it seems normal. Like seeing a old lady struggling with shopping is normal (As seeing a Wood Elf archer is normal), not seeing an old lady lifting weights (as seeing a Redguard mage) It's just i don't think I've seen a Nord archer and i don't want to pick Wood Elf because their ugliness has no bound and is a sin.

Yeah, a Nord archer is a perfectly fine way to fight. The real-life Germanic tribes and Vikings had archers among them as well. Every major culture has/had some sort of tradition of archery.

Yes. Notice all those guards with bows. Bows are weapons. Nords like weapons.

I don't see why not. Aela the Huntress, a prominent Companions member is an Expert level Trainer in Archery. Who says that Nords can't be archers?

What's the saying? "Label cans, not people"?

In Lore I'm pretty sure Bretons are famed for being heavy feudal-type knights. but the game tells you they're best at magick

Heck yes! I play a Nord jack of all trades, but I mostly use Archery and sneak during combat

I get shot at all the time by Bandits and Forsworn, and most of them seem to be Nords, so... yeah.

Longbow archers were a lot more muscular in real life. The amount of strength it requires to draw a bow meant that the archers were more burly than their melee counterparts. Thinking about it, the concept of the warrior being huge and strong and the archer being slim and agile seems to have got mixed up somewhere. Swordplay requires a lot more agility than strength.

Go for it- role-play a little. Maybe your Nord suffered a fall from a craggy precipice as a boy escaping the clutches of a frost troll, so he can't melee very well with a bum/stiff leg. But he still has massive upper body strength to wield a bow, so drop perks into overdraw. :tes:

Maybe he took an arrow in the knee, and so can't melee.

Thats actually really witty and a decent idea

Maybe he took an arrow in the knee, and so can't melee.
Atleast that way he doesn't have to fight dragons, leave that to his cousin.
