caravan Shotgun why?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:06 am

Ok i think the idea for the caravan shotgun was an awesome one, and the screw for the sights was cool but.... Why didnt they use the middle part of the screw where the screw driver goes (the indent) as the sights to line up with the tip of the gun... Instead they just put a big fat screw that blobs over the target.

I also thought that. I suppose you dont have to be terribly accurate when operating a shotgun though.

I was also a little disapointed at the length of the extended six shooter barrel. Not quite as epic as the cover of New Vegas

Don't people use shotguns because they don't want to aim? Just point it in the general direction and fire away.

Caravan Shotgun is a gun you'll never use again once you get a Lever Action Shottie... Far superior, and includes usable iron sights.

I found this as well. In fact, I've recently turned off the iron sights feature - I find it really difficult to target the enemy using any gun that is not tailored for this. I'm talking Caravan Shotgun, Lever-action Shotgun, 10mm pistol etc. Only weapons like the Service Rifle with an actual sight make this feature workable, otherwise you're just guessing where the enemy is behind the barrel of your gun.

Another reason not to use the Caravan Shotgun is it's poor damage and tiny magazine- two shots and you already have to reload. The Lever-action Shotgun is my weapon of choice, it's superior in every way. It even has a cool reload animation.

Personally, the single-shotgun is better than the caravan shotgun. It does more damage and has way less spread.

The .20 gauge is pea-shooter. I prefer the .12 gauge Riot Shotgun for crowd control.

Yeah, I can't figure out why you'd need to aim with a shotgun. Even with slugs they're just too inaccurate. Keep a rifle of some kind for precision shots, and a shotgun for when the [censored] hits the fan and you need things to die.

A shotgun's pattern isn't going to be so wide that you can point and shoot. The longer the range and the shorter the barrel, the wider the spread so while you might get a single pellet hit on a target, it's not going to be an overwhelming hit, especially with a 20 Gauge.

I know the Caravan Shotgun is bad but I can pick off targets with the 10mm Pistol at 50 yards easily, which is the maximum distance you'll usually find in a building. It makes it an invaluable sneaking weapon thanks to the silencer. The weapons I've used and have been accurate with thanks to the iron sights are:

9mm Pistol (without scope)
10mm Pistol
.357 Magnum
.44 Magnum
Hunting Revolver
Service Rifle
Assault Carbine
Hunting Rifle (without scope)
Cowboy Repeater (incredibly accurate for such an old weapon)
Trail Carbine
Hunting Shotgun
Single Shotgun

I think that's it. I didn't include weapons that had scopes because... Well, that's not aiming down the iron sights is it? I was surprised that the Single Shotgun was so accurate, but not so surprised by the Hunting Shotgun (hunting firearms are accurate by design).

Which is exactly the kind of sights that are found on your typical shotgun.

It's a low-end, cheap shotgun, held together by tape and wire....

I agree, with some better sights it would be much more useful weapon. Would make those headshots more common. With screw cowering half screen, you often have to guess where you aim.

That's because the cover has a Sequoia pistol on it, not a 357 with an extended barrel.

There is no silver Sequoia, it is only brown with the engravings.
IF you wish to show me this unique, rare, Silver Sequoia, please do so.

Other than that, I think you are referring to the hunting revolver, of course without the scope on the front cover.

The Caravan shotgun is a pre-war skeet gun....it was made to shoot at clay pigeons or birds, not people. With the sort of targets it was intended for normally you're aiming where the target is going to be after you fire, not directly at it. Shotguns set up for slugs...and some military shotguns...have actual iron sights, or even a low power scope.

Because when you are using a shotgun you just point it forward.
