CaravanPack.Esm

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:25 am

I preordered NV on steam, and got some items in a file called Caravanpack.esm. Why on earth is a shotgun and some leather stored as a master file? What has made this worse for me is that every time I start the geck, the cavaran pack.esm demands to be the master file. I untick it, and select the main NV.esm and load my mod. After its loaded I check data...and the caravan pack is still a master to it.

I now have the problem of being unable to do anything in the GECK without it mastering itself to NV.esm and the caravanpack.esm. If I delete the caravanpack, I cannot load my esp.

Thoughts anyone?

Delete Caravan.esm before creating mods.

These weapon packs are useless...

I punched my delete key so hard I think I smashed caravanpack.esm into another dimension, occupied solely by poor programming and design decisions.

Of course, it would have been nice to have realised all of this before putting 4 days of solid work into a tainted esp. God bless elminster and FO3edit.

Im sure there is a reason it was made an .esm, but considering all of the DLC's for FO3 were .esp form, it makes you wonder what the decision was.

Umm I can load FNV without my caravan pack loading just fine. Also, all the DLC for Fo3 were ESM. Having a mod as esp creates a lot of issues that shouldnt happen. Thats why the only mods that should be esp's are small ones, or ones that dont deal with material much. (i.e. a face replacer, radio station, or perk/gameplay balancing mod) But ones that add lots of items or places should always be esm.

Also, the pack isnt too useless, the sturdy caravan shotgun is the most powerful shotgun in the game. So I use it all the time. Sure once your lvl 30 and all the enemies have rocket launcher you may want to upgrade, but its nice to have for the first 10-15 levels. Plus you got it for free so dont complain.

I had the same problem with the classic pack, what you need to do is change the date modified for the caravanpack.esm, I used this http://download.cnet.com/FileDate-Changer/3000-2248_4-10549569.html it was very simple and easy to use.

Good Luck
