Carry weight help

Post » Tue Jul 31, 2012 4:52 pm

So I've just started my robes Mage character so unlike all of my previous characters I don't need the steed stone. The problem is the basic carry weight +35 is not enough, I'm carrying about 100 potions, a glass bow, about 50 soul gems and 12 torches. Spellbreaker, a few books and notes, no ingredients, apparel is just Robes. All of this means I have about 10 spare carry weight. How can I optimise my inventory for more space. About 100.

The Steed Stone will add another 100 carrying capacity. And there is a Pickpocket perk that will do the same.

Unload some of the heavier soul gems (Greater and up)..you can carry less torches and you can also enchant your boots and gloves (if you're wearing any) with fortify carry weight

I don't understand why your total carry weight is so low. I never invested a point into stamina with my robes mage and was able to carry a lot more than that.

Also don't use torches as a mage. It's wrong.

Edit: just checked. basic carry weight is 300, your inventory is about 100, so you should have 200 spare. Or maybe I didn't understand the question.

There is the extra pockets perk from pickpocketing, And the steed stone. Having both of them increases carrying capacity by 200. My capacity is 600 :D. Also take atleast a few of the potions. I was a mage character. There is a mask i dont know which one since i have 2 other ones but one of them increases capacity by 20. And i dont find soul gems useful to me. I store mine :D

Also with the torches. I would just use candlelight.

100 potions? 12 torches? books???? (notes have no weight)

It seems you need to manage your inventory better.
100 potions = 50 weight
12 torches = 12 weight
Not sure how many books you're carrying, but journals are .5 and books are 1. Store them. You don't need most of them and quest items can't be dropped.

I also say you're carrying too many soul gems, and their weight starts at .3, so you're already at 30.

Adding extra weight carrying capacity doesn't seem to be the fix you're looking for.

Just my opinion.

I used to think spending perks in pickpocketing tree was a waste, but I changed my mind about that.

Leveling a skill to 100 gives you 5000 XP points. 5000 XP points is enough for 3 level gains at Level 65, 4 levels at Level 50, 6 levels gains at Level 30. If your planned build goes to 50, for example. If you take 3 perks in pickpocket and push your build to Level 53, you come out ahead in terms of perks. If you are one of those people who plan out build to 81, then maybe it's not for you.

First 2 perks you need before Pickpocket makes pickpocketing easier, so it's not a complete waste. Also pickpocketing is fun little diversion. Great for sneaky players, especially.
