Castle Volkihar side quest glitch

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 6:05 am

So, there are a number of different quests you can do after completing Dawnguard. One of those missions is to turn a special someone into a vampire. The thing is, after a few days of doing these side quests, I just received the same victim I had in the beginning. Cairine or something similar who lives in the Warrens. Obviously I can't turn her into a vampire twice, so I guess this is the end for those side quests for me.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This happened to me with Valindor in Riften. I ended just killing him, which failed the quest but allowed me to keep getting other quests from Castle Volkihar.

Seems like a solution.

This. Its sad but best solution. I have wondered if talking to the person after turning them (say a few days) somehow stops them being reselected. I tried it with the next person I turned (visiting them) but haven't had the quest come up again. I'll let you know.

Had a very, very similar problem. My wife was killed and it asked me to turn my dead wife into a vampire.

Unfortunately you have to kill the target so the quest "fails" or you can try reloading a save before entering the castle and hope they switch the quest to something else. I couldn't get around it for Cairine that way but I was able to get them to skip a duplicte turn quest for the innkeepers wife in Winterhold.

Yes, what you can do is load an earlier save, and it should choose another person. That said, if the quest comes up after you have turned all 3, I don't know. All I can suggest is console cheat it.

Another way to avoid getting repeating "conversion" quests is to talk to everyone that you have turned into a vampire already before taking a quest from Vingalmo. They will give you the typical "thank you" dialogue and you will not receive another quest to turn those same people. Do let me warn you, however, that once you have converted everyone possible; Vingalmo will simply not offer you any quests. You will be told that Vingalmo wishes to speak with you, and he will offer you nothing. Unfortunately, using this very method has prevented me from being able to receive "The Gift". For whatever reason, I never received the quest to turn Jenassa, my spouse, into a vampire. Still, if you don't want to kill your followers, this is how to do it.

I'm have a problem with The Gift quest too. I reloaded save before many times, but Vingalmo not gave me that quest. Garen, Fiora, Feran, but no Vingalmo. This is last Dawnguard quest for me, what I not received.

Unfortunately, Alexium, there does not appear to be a fix for it unless you are on the PC. I'm betting there is a console command to force it.

This particular quest, yes. quite often. I now speak to Vingalmo first, wich usualy results in him sending me to some one else to do a completely different radiant quest. the other option is to save before turning a quest in. that way when ol' Vinny tells you to go bite some one you already bit, you can simply reload and try for a different quest

Killing the victim and failing the quest seems like the only answer so far.

I also have not received "The Gift", but reading this thread has given me several options to get past turning that wench in Markarth into a Vampire for a second time...

I have loaded a previous save, but then never turned in the current quest because Vingalmo keeps wanting me to turn the... woman.
So I think I'll wander around and talk to everyone that I have turned so far, and see if that doesn't work.

I've tried the "kill-the-quest-target" option, but then Vingalmo just shut off and won't say a word to me, and no one else will give me any quests either. They just tell me that Vingalmo should have something for me, so that option isn't working.

Oh well. I guess I'll run around and talk to a bunch of Vamps I've made and see if that works. I'm at the crossroads where I have turned all three people, but Vingalmo won't give me "The Gift" so that I can turn Muiri into a Vamp.

How hot would that be? Alchemist chick that loves me for slaughtering her bandit ex-fling and her ex-BFF, and now she could be a Vampire plus she's just a bit crazy? Hot. :D

*glares at Vingalmo* Are you essential? Because if you aren't, I'm coming for you...

Me too. It has broken all the Volkihar side quests. All I got were the rings,
Cairine will not become seduced, I have tried console commands and it cleared the quest, but now I get no further dialog from anyone in the castle.

Quest "The Gift" have a 46 priority. Other side quests for vampire are 40. Maybe it will help somebody.

What's the command? I tried to find it, but I can't. Actually, my problem is with the moth priest. I tried to entrall him. It lets me bite him, but it won't advance to the next thing to let me talk to him. I left the cave, come back,, waited 24 hours, seduced him again, bit him and still the same result.

I'm confused. What does this mean? Does it mean that you are more likely to get the other side quests, or more likely to get "The Gift" first?
