[REQ]Cattle prod fix

Post » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:00 am

I was just wondering if anyone decided to do a tweak to the cattle prod to actually give it an electric shock sound or visual?

Oh, do they make any kind of vibration devices for PC games? I always liked that about console games, really made explosions and fighting so much better. lol sorry I know that was kind of random.

In re: your topic subtitle.

Who needs a mod for a Goodsprings home? There's one due south of the bar that's free to use. I seen Easy Pete sleep there once, but nothing in there is owned.

Nothing in there is owned... but you'll find that that also means that anything you leave in there is fair game for Easy Pete and anyone else who decides to use that other bed. They'll eat your food, use your drugs, drink your booze, and even steal your weapons and ammo in a fight.

Plus, there's no source of water! If you're -going- to take a house with no ownership tags... just off Doc Mitchell and take his!

Or make yourself a nice little custom mod, with a house of your liking. It's all up to you.

As for the cattle-prod thing... well... I donno.

What sound effect does it currently make?

Maybe look in the BSAs and see whether the shock baton sound effect from MZ is in Fallout New Vegas?

For the NV version of FNNCQ I make several electrical shock devices (tazer, stunner, ...) a cattle prod makeover is in the works too. There have to be some weapons in the game which make the powered armors tin cans look bad ;) .

Strictly speaking, a "tin can" that completely encloses a person is actually perfect armor against electricity. NO amount of electricity, including lightning, would be able to harm the person inside. This is because a metal suit acts like a Faraday cage and the electric charge cannot reach the interior.

You are correct. Where did my physics education go...
If I look at the meshes for the powerarmors they aren't completely covering. So the good old middle age knight principle (killing per lightning) works for them :whistling: .

Depends on the size of the holes. And the frequency of the electric current (higher frequency can go through smaller holes)

This is why most real world "Faraday Cages" have screens, sometimes with fairly large gaps in the mesh. Same reason your microwave oven door has holes in the metal barrier.

I would guess that middle age knights died because they weren't wearing their helmet.

Anyway, if you've seen the video for a real life power armor prototype, you'll quickly realize that real life power armor will be quite well insulated. (think the current prototype + a much better power source + lightweight armor plates)

Yes won't the higher voltage and current damage the electrical components of the power armour?

It's all a question of insulation. If the electrical components and the human inside is proper insulated against the metal parts outside there should be no problems.

Still I don't plan to remove the wearer of power armor from the list of potential victims for my weapons ;) .

NightkinCloakFXShader I think this could be kinda what you want. Check how it is used in scripts to try it.

Although IRL I doubt you actually see sparks and [censored] when you use a cattle prod on something.
