I'm not entirely sure what the major difference between these two types are, but there seems to be a rather significant one as there are armor mods that support both styles. I guess one won't work with the other. But what does CBBE do that UNP doesn't, and the other way around? I can't figure it out =/

Just a matter of taste and style. Take a look at the screenshots for both, I know I can see a difference.

Personally I don't care for those kind of mods, seeing naked ladies whenever I loot a dead bandit is no need for me in a game.

UNP I think is a more toned, athletic body, while CBBE is a curvier, bustier body.

AFAIK a lot of those armor mods and such simply change the mesh to align better with the specific body, but CBBE meshes should work fine on UNP since it's smaller, whereas UNP meshes might not be able to match up to the bigger boobs of CBBE. Then you've got the H cup mods that are just ridonkulous (CHSBHC?).

Cbbe essentially uses the vanilla UV map, where as the UNP uses an all new one.

It's the other way around. So UNP is better for compatibility. But CBBE seems to be more popular, so I guess it won't be a problem to find compatibility patches for all the clothes and armors (plus it has more custom 'armors' as far as I can see).

As far as I can tell, neither of them have complete armor/clothing replacers that attempt to keep the same style as vanilla. I haven't considered getting a body replacer yet because of this.

The optional bikini install for UNP, is that underwear on the body mesh, or just armor that comes in an esp? I'd rather not have naked bodies laying around the dungeon after I'm done looting.. (and if that's not an option with UNP, are there any body mods out there that include underwear?)

Eh, aside from the feet Vanilla models look fine to me. I am using UNP right now but Ill probably go back to just Detailed Bodies when I stop being lazy. Plus taste aside, its pretty immersion breaking to loot an older woman and have horrendous neck seams and body mismatch.


There is someone working on that for UNP, has quite a bit done so far but not everything. Duno about CBBE, but its popular enough.

Yes the optional bikini install is the nevernvde option for UNP.

I'm still using Thepal's mod, myself. It works well enough for me.

i use cbbe right now mainly because ive used it since it was released and havent switched but im thinking about switching because someone started converting the vanilla armors for unp and im not really into the thousands of skimpy mods out for cbbe but that's just personal tastes

I think CBBE's popularity has a lot to do with it being the 1st new body mod proper which came out. UNP is relatively new.
I use CBBE but only started when cos of the never nvde version.

My fav body is the Vanilla body.

Mine too... even the 'naturism style' version is not bad, aside from the lack of nipbles and some visible seams in the groin area. I don't mind playing with a fantasy version of Barbie and Ken since the 'extra stuff' is hardly useful in Skyrim (and children are obviously cloned). The only problem is that Thepal's texture and all those which used it as a base, place the nipbles in a flat spot of the mesh, hence they don't look too good.

For the custom female 'barbie doll' body I made a custom skin that places than at the junction point of several triangles and the normal map (custom too) now gives a good impression of the nipbles being threedimensional even at extreme angles.

I'm monitoring both, but I'm going with CBBE for now. I like the weight slider adjustment option, and there's currently more clothing/armor mods for it.

Don't forget that there are other body mesh out of there... My favorite among the alternative bodies is Prometheus_ts'

Ideal for those who don't want all the women to look like top models in their prime years.

CBBE has BAZONGAS and BADONKADONK.
UNP is an idealized athletic female.
UNP comes with better feet by default, however there is a version of CBBE with better feet.

It's a matter of preference in the end. There's already an re-engineered armor pack for Dimon, not so sure for CBBE.
