Cha-Ching Exp

Post » Sat Dec 04, 2010 8:07 am

Hello people sorry to be bothersome but is there a mod out there that allows us to get the old Cha-Ching whenever you get exp like from Fallout 3?
I miss it a lot.
Also is it possible to make it so that it continues to do that (and show the exp earned) even after you reach max lvl?

Thanks in advance.

It's possible the sound has been included in the FONV bsa but if it hasn't you'll have to settle for something close instead of the real deal.

Really? I looked everywhere but I couldn't find it. Then again Im not really good at finding stuff on my computer so that might be attributed to my own lack of ability rather than it not being present.

If the sound is in the bsa someone still needs to make it in to a mod for it to be used. If it isn't in the bsa a substitute would have to be found since you can't take resources from one game and put them into another.

It's a pretty common sound effect, shouldn't be too hard to find a free-to-use one. There are also level cap remover mods, i heard of one that doesn't allow you to gain anymore skillpoints or perks, but just tracks your levels past 30. I don't know the name or details, though.

Yeah that sounds awesome. I really don't want to have any extra skillpoints or perks but I would love to be able to keep track of lvl and stuff. If I had the ability to I would def make a mod for it but unfortunately my computer abilities are extremely limited due to me having never taken any classes and the fact that last time I opened up GECK i got extremely confused by the interface.

Sure you can. You open the Fallout 3 sound BSA with one of the BSA unpackers, extract sound/fx/ui/popup/ui_popup_experienceup.wav into the same path within the Data folder of New Vegas. That should override the sound in the New Vegas sound BSA, since it has the same path and name, just a different content.

You can't legally post a mod containing this .wav file, since it's copyrighted, but there's nothing that prevents you from using it this way in the privacy of your own home.

Edit: I just tried it and it works perfectly. a quick "player.RewardXP 1" in the console and "Cha-Ching!"

As far as I know the EULA does just that, I could be wrong though.

Oh dear I don't happen to have my copy of Fallout 3 anymore because I left it (as well as all my saves and installation) back on my older Desktop at home... and Im in college with my laptop right now... SIGH
All i can do is just hope that someone posts a mod with a sound bite similar to that and with a way to track lvling :(

Personal use should be okay as long as you own both games. As copyrighted material it cannot be distributed as was said. Not sure what the stance is on that "second-hand distribution" (giving instructions how to do it) :P

Might as well crab the Level Up! jingle too (Sounds/fx/mus/Success.wav).

Lol honestly it doesn't have to be the exact same sound as from Fallout 3. I really don't mind if its just something similar that you can get online for free. My only problem is making the mod required so you can keep track of exp/lvls after maxing out at 30.

Fallout New vegas' UIPopUpExperienceUp [SOUN:0002D062] has the same filepath as Fallout 3's, fx\ui\popup\ui_popup_experienceup.wav, but they replaced the sound. Couldn't find the Ka-ching sound, but http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wk4ooudrfwk137u will redirect the sound to use sfx_card_collectchips_01.wav
