Challenge Build: The Proud Nord

The build is based around the idea that Nords (some of them, anyways) of Skyrim are very independent people. Nords tend to shy away from magic and rely on their own two hands and a set of gear when in battle. It's not too big of a stretch to belive that there are some Nords out there who are just too bullheaded to rely on anyone or anything else for help, that's where things get interesting.

Rather than go into too much detail, I'll just give you the basic idea and let you figure it out for yourselves. Since I'm still tweaking as I go, there's no need for me to set up a bunch of rules. (Not like you'd follow them anyways)

One Handed, Light Armor, Block, Smithing

Perks (must have):
Armsman (5/5)
Hack and Slash (3/3)
Fighing Stance
Critical Charge
Savage Strike
Paralyzing Strike

Agile Defender (5/5)

Shield Wall (5/5)
Power Bash
Deadly Bash
Disarming Bash
Deflect Arrows
Elemental Protection
Block Runner
Shield Charge
Quick Reflexes

Steel Smithing
Elven Smithing
Advanced Armors

NO Magic other than your first restoration spell, your race power, and shouts.
(unless required by quest)NO Alchemy or drinking potions or using poisons (unless required by quest)
NO Enchanting
(unless required by quest)
----wearing armor/weapons/clothing with an enchantment is OK, but you may not recharge it or enchant your own items

More notes:
I've been playing this build and really enjoying it, but I'm warning you ahead of time that it's pretty tough at times. I'm not very far with this build yet, so I may need to eventually make adjustments when the time comes.

Hmm, if using found enchanted weapons is OK, I'd say using found (or bought) potions should be OK too.

I've done something similar - a Nord who refused to touch anything magical. He wore light armor and used 2-handed (greatswords). Block was important there, too, especially Quick Reflexes. Smithing, of course. Archery as a minor (no perks).

He would use potions, though, bought or found. No magical gear or weapons of any kind.

Around lvl 18-20 I started to get into real trouble against certain bandits. But it can be done. Sword-and-board makes it considerably easier.

I would almost think that a Nord would use heavy armor instead of light. The Companions all use heavy armor (even Aela, even though her armor is very...revealing)

That's actually how I play most my Nords already.

Added to all of that I only use Nordish armor and weapons, none of that elven junk. So armor goes from Hide to Leather to Scaled to Dragonhide. Weapons are anything that not elven or orcish or dwarven. I also never touch that nasty Daedic stuff.

EDIT: I do have to admit that I use potions though. I swear the game is designed so that you have to in order to live through some battles. That why all time stops when you go into your inventory to drink some.

Pretty normal Nord play style. I have to agree with kingkonig that heavy armor should be allowable. Some Viking chieftains used iron briastplates while the masses had to make due with chain mail. You should amend that to being open to playing two handed also. Some players like the use of a battle axe. A lot of the perks after armsman are unnecessary though. You need to think about Speech. Nords, like the Vikings they are based on, are good traders, so adding some perks to that would be a good idea. Otherwise, I think you have a good build.

One other thing though.......why Elven smithing? They aren't going to wear Elven armor or use elven weapons.
