Changing equipment on non-follower wife?

If you marry someone who isn't a follower, like Miuri, is it possible to give her new armor to wear?

There are glitches for some of them involving reverse Pickpocketing them, but AFAIK all of their gear respawns when you zone or leave the cell except for Sylgja.

I assume there are no console tricks either because their default gear respawns?

Go to either Wikia or UESP and go to the page for Muiri and it should say what you can do. :P ...but I think that's right.

Their clothing and armour resets unfortunately. I mean come on, I have all this money and we live in Proudspire Manor with a housecarl who wears Ebony Armour but my wife still wears these tatterred old clothes.

I just console my wife's clothes every time I want to look at her. You can force-equip it using the console, but it does reset every time you reload, so I have the ref numbers written down. I have her in a cook's hat and Vittoria Vici's wedding dress, which is kind of a nice combo surprisingly - that hat ends up looking very much like a medieval hat, and the "wedding dress" looks like a nice houserobe over a chemise.

There is a nice shortcut to "dressing" her with console commands.

Make a text file with all of the commands you use to change her clothes. It can have a .txt extension. Place it in your Skyrim folder (where the game is).

In the game, when you want to change her clothes, open the console, click her so that her ID shows, and type bat . So, if you named the file "dress.txt", it would be bat dress.

that's not a glitch, but a perk.

I read somewhere about leaving one item of clothing the same and it won't reset? Still yet to try it...

There are console tricks and whatnot, but what I found works best and is most permanent is using the NPC editor tool on the Nexus. Soon to be replaced by the CK to be sure, but it makes a little mod file per character you want to edit.

For instance, I am not going to bring Sylgja or Jordis anywhere with me, so I made a file that scripts them to have only clothes in their inventory from the get go. Here they are in http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614975232967528497/0A21FB476920758664142CA07382E761FE7EA6AD/.

I haven't found the NPC editor tool, not sure if I'm looking in the right spot tho.

Isn't there a 'equip' option in her inventory ?

I took away Ysolda's default clothes using the console, then equipped her with Nocturnal's clothes and hood, added Nightingale boots and a Daedric dagger. Hubba-hubba! I haven't checked back on that character in some time, but to my surprise Ysolda hadn't switched back in at least a few days. In fact, somehow she augmented the outfit with a bow and arrows. I keep intending to examine those to see what they are.
