changing your character

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 7:56 am

I have a dumb complaint/question..... I was making my character, and i didn't notice until after i was done that i picked a hair style that had a pony tail.. As petty as this sounds it drives me nuts and ticks me off. Is there any way to change hairstyles after the initial creation? If not there should be, just like in the fallout series.

I don't believe so unless you are on PC.

I believe there are console commands on PC version that remained from Oblivion. You may test it for me, by the way:

in oblivion there was:

ShowRaceMenu

ShowClassMenu

ShowBirthSign

Try to figure out any "show (something) menu", dunno, like "ShowCharacterMenu".

There must be a console comand.

And if you are on a PC you're going to run into problems doing it through the console commands. Folks may not be noticing, but when you load up the character editor it changes some of the slider positions. So, you may use it to adjust your hairstyle and end up with subtle changes you didn't ask for. Not a good thing if you spent a lot of time getting your character just right.

There is supposed to be a way to change your character before escaping Helgen, but I haven't found it. All of the previews mentioned it.

Any ideas?

Pretty sure they're referring to the point where you step off the cart and are asked your name.

Open the console (~) and type:

showracemenu

then close the console.

Make your changes and then save as normal.

If you are just changing your character's appearance, I haven't noticed any changes to stats or level. I checked them all and they were all the same after 4 or 5 times changing it.

If you change your race, you will end up with messed up stats. I tried that several times as well.

Also a good idea to always make a new save before trying anything like this so you can always go back to your old save.

Edit: Oops, not on PS3 or X360!

Yeah they should add a barber to a future patch.

You might run into issue with skills using the character editor, be careful.
