i read that players won’t be able to give unique names to their characters and that they have to choose “First name” and “Sure names” for their characters!
I was wondering how the Uniqueness of the character names will exactly work!

For example if I name my character “Bulvin Thunderstorm”, will “Bulvin” and “Thunderstorm” be reserved for me or “Bulvin Thunderstorm” as a Full name?
for example will another player be able to name his/her character “Bulvin Mountainstone” or “Guldin Thunderstorm”?

99.9% certain that only FULL names are exclusive, there can be a billion Mikes out there, and a billion with the last name HAWK - but MIKE HAWK is special. MIKE HAWK is pretty darn awesome.

Why does choosing a first and last name mean that the names aren't unique?

As far as I know the combination will be unique, but theoretically somebody could choose the same surname or first name.

is it possible to pre-reserve a character name before the release?
BTW if you don't want anyone to take your name you shouldn't write it here on the forum... HURRY UP AND REMOVE YOUR POST!

All we know is that you can reserve player guild names, and I think that is as far as they will take it.

I don't mind if they allowed you to reserve a character name, but there has to be limitations to it. First and foremost you have to had pre-ordered the game, and you are only allowed to reserve ONE name so that you can't have people reserving a ton of names then selling them to people.

Well it would be weird if i see someone with same Surname as my own character! Is He/She a long lost brother/sister of my character! and more importantly why is he/she a Dunmer... and I am a Argonian!?... could we have same parents? is conception even possible between elves and Lizards?

There are tons of people in the world that share the same last name and aren't related to each other, and they can be of different race too.

I prefer it this way. First names and Last names shouldn't be necessarily unique. That's why we have unique account names. Also, helps role-players create family lineages if they want to.

oh I love this! first and last. Means for sure I can get the first name I want...I agree also that is great for role-players which I hope there will be some. I adore rp so that is where I will be most times when not supporting teams in dungeons!
